Highest number of offensive zone starts
"This is a list of players who have been used preferentially in offensive situations by their teams. Some were used that way because they are top offensive talents and it is the best way to use their skills (Evgeni Malkin, Alexander Ovechkin)"

Quote from the same article you linked us to... Means that number of offensive starts are skewed upwards when a coach tactically puts a 'top offensive talent' into the game after the opposing team ices the puck or a whistle is called in the offensive zone. The fact that he is among the league leaders in this proves that he is a 'top offensive talent', not that he is a cherrypicker

Well, if this masterpiece of a thread is still open, we may as well talk about this impending deal.

Any word on if Toronto was going to cave and include the 7th rounder in 3036?

Actually, I'm pretty sure it means that Malkin lines up in the offensive zone, even when the faceoff isn't there, which is why he is such a cherrypicker. From his posts that's the only thing that makes sense to me.

Don't worry, it'll go well with your #71 Malkin Kings jersey.

Or Jagr Montreal jersey. Now that he has mined this rumor for all the hits he could get out of it, it is on to another canadian hockey rabid fan base to gin up the hits on his site:

* Jarmoir Jagr is down to Montreal and Pittsburgh....and it may be Mario's call. From what I hear it's Montreal unless Pittsburgh comes in much higher dollar-wise. It has really always been Montreal. It comes down to Plekanec, and Jagr loves the city. The city that loves Kovalev will absolutely adore Jagr. He is the prototype for a player in Montreal. Ridiculous skill, intriguing personality, and interesting off the ice...

Nope, the Sid jersey is Habs. It was his favorite team growing up and he'll end up there one day just like Lemieux did ...

If Malkin is going to be traded (which there's a 99% chance he won't be), my guess would be with the Sabres. Pegula and Black are connected with Pittsburgh, Pegula wants to make a big splash this summer and somehow add an all-star player, in a recent interview GM Darcy Regier said he wants to look into a big upgrade at center this summer (and it seems like he'd rather trade for a top line center than go after Richards), and Buffalo has the cap space to fit in Malkin's 8.7 million dollar contract. I'm not gonna guess any offers because I don't know what Pittsburgh would want, but I would think it would be something like Kassian/Adam, Pysyk/McNabb, 1st round picks and a scoring forward like Pominville.

They'd probably want Ennis instead of Pominville, but I wouldn't mind seeing this happen!

Well, after this post, I am SHOCKED that Eklund has not yet sent out a tweet of "Malkin to Buffalo" e5

I guess the hold-up on this deal is waiting to find out what's happening with Jagr?

If the Pens can't sign Jagr, they need a wingerz so they can just trade Malkin for Kulamen. And if they can sign Jagr and they don't needs wingers, they don't need Kulemin and they can just trade Malkin straight up for Kadri, right?

I'm waiting for the Malkin to Winnipeg claim. Might as well start trying to generate hits from a new source.
