Being a Leafs fan, you should know about this.

Darcy Tucker also had a NMC and as such he can (and did) refuse waivers.

The team was still able to buy him out exactly in the same way that the Rangers will buy out Drury.

That's exactly the point, he will be taking ice time away from Eric ****ing Christensen. Let me repeat, Eric ****ing Christensen and his 16 assists. The Rangers have very solid 2-4 lines but have to juggle everything to find anyone to slot on the first with Gaborik. Almost everything Richards brings will be additional production.

Gaborik didn't suddenly lose his goal scoring ability, he simply never got the puck b/c waiver wire heroes like Eric ****ing Christensen were too busy giving it away all over the ice as the C on the first line. Eventually lots of different players were being moved next to Gaborik on the 1st line but they will produce the same or more on a lower line not matched up against the top D pairing.

Drury is a good example of a type of UFA signing that made no sense for the Rangers at the time - screw the intangibles. Richards is a very specific, targeted signing that does make sense.

Man, I'm gunna miss Dru (Not his cap hit). I have always been a huge fan of him. It's unfortunate that he just didn't pan out for us. I wish him the best of luck in his departure. I hope his knee recovers so he can continue his career some place where he can be appreciated. You can never question his work ethic. Some team will definitely pick him up for leadership, pk, and face off abilities.

How dare you sir! No one, I repeat no one has damaged a team's talent base like Milbury did to the Islanders. Montreal police should be investigating him for assault on an entire fan base.

Sather just likes wasting some of Dolan's billions and Rangers' fans don't care as long as he can keep fixing the cap situation.

40 may be a bit of a reach, but not that much of a reach.

The Rangers PP was abysmal, Richards ability to man the point is going to generate scoring.

His ability to play with an elite talent like Gaborik will help him get back to his 40+ goal out put.

His ability to score goals from the Center position is also going to help increase the overall team output. Our next best center scored only 21

Finally, his presence alone is going to draw teams top defence tandems allowing the Pack Line to continue their development as individuals and as a line so you can expect increased scoring there as well.

Actually, I could see a 40 goal increase in overall team scoring.

Sather never EVER ceases to amaze me. The guy is absolutely horrible at signing FAs, but is a complete genius in every other aspect of his job.

The NHL would probably grieve that and call it cap circumvention.

I guarantee the Richards contract won't be as low as some Rags fans are hoping/suggesting.

I could see 8x8

A complete genius at everything except building a winner. Truth is, despite his supposed coup of dealing Gomez and using the space to get Gaborik, the Habs have been more successful as a team than the Rangers since then. The last year Gomez was with the Rangers, the Rangers were better than the Habs. Even when he gets gifts, he still can't build a good hockey team.

we could have afforded him even if Drury was on the books. Assuming we sign all our restricted free agents for around 11 million, we would still ave 11 mill+ to sign Brad.

Wish you all the best Chris. You were a good soldier, but it is impossible to pay 7 mill to a 4th line center.

Redden isn't fixed. Just because he's in the minors doesn't mean he's all gone. Still responsible for the salary.

Not trying to be combative, because I really am curious. How many playoff series have the Rangers won during Sather's tenure, and do Ranger fans find that acceptable?

I believe we've made it to the 2nd round twice since the lockout. I can't speak for the entire fanbase, but I'm content with the progress. Would I like to make it further? Of course. But we've basically been going through a rebuild the past few years while remaining a low seed playoff team. We have a bright future ahead of us which is what I'm most excited about.
