I really have a hard time believing Fenton screwed up this bad. It has to be some technological malfunction.

Preds spokesman says the team met its deadline for the QO offers and the reports this morning are "speculation."

Hopefully this is true. Regardless, hopefully, we get some news on signings real soon.

I guess he could of said something along the lines of "we are cooperating with the NHL in their investigations". At least it sounded more like a form of denial.

An NHLPA spokesman said that the players' association is reviewing the matter.

The issue, it sounds like, is whether the players received their offers on time.

A Predators spokesperson said that deadlines were met.

We'll get back to you if we have more information, if there is anything to report later.

Currently at development camp, and David Poile does not have the disposition of someone who is stressed by this possible issue.

Agreed. If they were guilty of missing the deadline, there are a lot better ways to make the statement (or not say anything at all).

Stan Bowman was the assistant GM who was to take care of the QO's in Chicago...and is now the GM.

Yeah, but it's not like he went on to win the Stanley Cup in that role or anything...

Here is a statement from NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly, putting to rest any speculation on this:

"We are not aware of any defects relating to Qualifying Offers tendered by the Nashville Predators to certain of the team's Players as several media outlets are reporting. Those Players having timely received Qualifying Offers will be Restricted Free Agents as of July 1, and both the Players and the team will be accorded the various rights and benefits of Restricted Free Agency as are set forth in CBA."

Not so fast...the league said something similar, IIRC, in the Blackhawks situation. The NHLPA eventually filed a grievance, which, if there is a problem, is what will happen here again.

Daly =\= the NHLPA..

Until the NHLPA puts out a statement, the issue is still alive.

What do you have to go on, though? I'm not sure if you were around HF at the time, but I clearly remember the majority of Blackhawks fans making similar type statements, not to mention the team and media. It just didn't even seem possible. So far, this looks EXACTLY like that situation.

I'm not jumping off the bridge about it, but it merits conversation. You can't just say, "I'm sure it's fine" and close the thread.
