If you put Dubi and Cally at 4m, Anisimov at 2m, Boyle at 1.5m and Sauer at 1m we are going to have 14m left...put Richards at 7-8m and we still have 6m left...wonder what we are using that on? Cole? Upshall? Leino?

I like the idea of Eric Cole above anyone else on the FA list beyond BR.

OK so am I doing the bonus numbers wrong, are we lowballing one of the RFAs, or do we have a problem? Even with kinda conservative cap hits for the 5 RFAs I still have us pretty far over the cap and that's without the bonus hits from this past season that RangerBoy has talked about which I couldn't find the numbers on. Granted it's easy enough to say Hagelin won't be on the roster or things like that though it doesn't fully solve the issue. And I never did include Valentenko who I'm sure will be the 7th dman...concerning. Hopefully I messed some numbers up...

edit: I should say the summer numbers on the left are obviously taken from Pawnos's chart. I know those ones are correct, I'm wondering if I missed something on the right side

Erixon doesn't have a 2.6m cap hit, neither will MZA.

Also, likely only 1 of Prospal/Feds gets an offer.

Also your roster includes way too many players at once...whoever isn't on the roster doesn't count during the season.

http://www.capgeek.com/charts.php?Team=22

I was taking the MZA and Erixon numbers from there, is it the number shown for 11-12 + the bonus number in the roll-over box (which is how I got 2.6M for both) or is that roll-over bonus part of the total number listed?

And yeah sorry it's a little unclear but most of the guys on the left weren't in my calculations they were just there for the summer numbers. The team salary box includes Gaby thru Steps, Staal, Girardi, Hank, Biron and Drury's buyout on the left and everything on the right. I just used Prospal and Feds as placeholder names for whoever gets those spots (edit: though I forgot about Avery so you're right if we only sign one of them the problem takes care of itself).

Avery-BR-Gaby
Dubie-Arty-Cally
Wolski-Stepan-MZA
Feds-Boyle-Prust
Christensen, Hagelin

Staal-Girardi
McD-Sauer
MDZ-Erixon
(Valentenko though I forgot to include him)

Hank
Biron

the bonuses are already included in the cap hit. example erixon's cap hit is $1.75 mil which includes $900k base salary + $850k bonus. its not $1.75 mil salary + an additional $850k bonus like you calculated.

Awesome. OK I'm still a bit over, but it's a number we should be able to get around. Thanks for the help both of you (edit: if we only sign one of Feds/Vinny since I forgot about Avery in my lineup lol we'll be under) crisis averted lol

Np it gets confusing, but yea we have enough space for our RFAs, Richards, and probably another decent player...and more cap room freed up next offseason as well.

If we are optimistic about RFA prices.

4 mil each is the absolute best case for Cally/dubi. We might be looking at closer to 10 mil between the two. 2 mil for Arty and boyle and 1.75 for Sauer and you've got 15.75 mil right there.

Thats around 10 mil in raises which still gives the Rangers room for Richards, but not much left over.

$4 mil should be the top end for dubi and cally...stafford has a 30 goal season under his belt and he signed for 4. i think thats a very reasonable and fair estimate. and boyle & sauer at 1.5 is more than fair (that triples their salaries). i don't think we are being overly optimistic

Beautiful

We should still have over 3m left after raises...though I guess we'd want to hold onto that just in case?

so this is how I see the depth chart. Does any combo even come close to putting us over the cap assuming likely raises?

how I would slot it

C- Richards,Anisimov, Stepan, Rupp, Christensen
RW- Gaborik, Callahan, Fedotenko, Prust
LW- Dubinsky, Wolski, Boyle, Avery

CT- Zuccarello, Hagelin, Newbury, Weise,Mithcell, Kolarik, Bourque. Assuming Thomas OHL

Staal, Girardi
McDonaugh, Sauer
Erixon, Del Zotto
Valentenko

CT-Kundratek, Pashin(signed for the farm?-
Assuming McIrath OHL

Lundqvist
Biron

CT- Johnson, Talbot

Redden plans on being at Rangers camp

Quote:
That's the word from Don Meehan, Redden's agent, via email today. "We'll continue to work on his situation," Meehan wrote, "but the plans are to be at New York's training camp in September."

Redden is entering the fourth year of a six-year, $39-million contract. He spent all of last season in the AHL, with eight goals and 34 assists in 70 games for Connecticut; as of July 1, his $6.5-million cap hit goes back on the Rangers roster.

He is not in the Rangers' plans, clearly, and the team had hoped Redden would put pride ahead of his guaranteed money and either retire or maneuver a way to go to Europe.

But the fact remains that Glen Sather signed Redden to the deal in July of 2008 and, in fact, Redden gets more money by being in the AHL -- he doesn't have any of his salary put into escrow, as all NHLers do. Payments into escrow last season varied between 10-18% of players' salaries.

So Redden will almost certainly be in camp, and almost as assuredly be assigned to Connecticut at the first opportunity to remove his salary from the Rangers roster.
http://mobile.newsday.com/inf/infomo...ed:i=1.3003425

Waivers begin 12 days before the NHL season begins. Rangers assign him to CT after he clears waivers. Redden counts on the cap until the day before the season begins.
