Foster at 1.8 and helping on the PP is much better than Barker at 3.0+ and sitting on the IR. IMO Foster goes nowhere. I would take Barker, but only at half of what he makes now.

I still can't believe wtf happened with this guy.. 3rd overall pick in 2004, a very good season with 40 pts in 68 games with the Hawks in 2008-2009...

Hearing #mnwild has NOT put Barker on unconditional waivers; if true, he couldn't be bought out for 1/3 by Thursday

Hmmm, the only RFA the Wild has is Powe. Unless he goes to arbitration, then Barker can't be bought out.

Winnipeg should pick him up, maybe the hometown thing would spark him

3rd overall in a weak draft after the #2 overall pick

The big question is if the Wild's found a trade suitor for him, or may be working on trading another dman. We shall see

Harsh. No wonder nobody plays for teams like Columbus and Minnesota--you get almost no kudos for doing a good job, and get ripped to shreds for doing an average one.

Just a couple short years ago this guy was one of the better Offensive D-men in the league, great on the PP, and a sought after trade target. He really regressed after the trade to Minny. I'm thinking it just wasn't a good fit because of their system. Cam is not anything special in his own zone, something the Wild pride themselves on as a team.

I wonder where he'll end up now. I was going to suggest the Isles but they just got the rights to Ehrhoff yesterday. Having him and a healthy Mark Streit will give them pretty much all the offense they need from the back end. Wouldn't hurt to add a depth offensive guy like Barker though.

I just don't see him getting back to that 40 point form, unless he somehow end up back in Chicago on a cheap deal. Wouldn't be too tough to accomplish considering he'll likely be bought out if he clears waivers and due to that and his limited role last season, he won't ask for much money.

At this point I think Cam just wants to get more playing time, re-establish himself as a good offensive D, and find a team he can call home.

Would Blackhawks fans be ok with him coming back? Assuming it's on a cheaper deal? I'm not sure how much cap room they'll have after signing Sharp but it's something I think should be considered. 40 points in 68 games playing with a similar defense group to what they have now is impressive no matter how much of a liability he may be in his own end.

Maybe I'm promoting him too much, but after my Leafs signed Komisarek to that horrible contract, Barker at 3m or less is a bargain. They're both average in their own end and Cam can actually put up points.

What does a Blackhawks' fan's rant have to do with the Blue Jackets and the Wild?

As a CBJ fan, I like this idea, provided Commodore hasn't been bought out yet.

woah there...don't lump us all together. our entire d was a clusterfluff last year and Barker didn't do anything to stand out as viable. Certainly not worth the price tag. BUT i didn't think he was any worse than anyone else we had rotating in the bottom 3 positions--in fact, he actually figured out he had to do something to stick around and was starting to play physical before the final injury. Clearly not enough for the team to keep him around, but he was looking up when he went out.

I didn't think he was that bad. Wild fans have this insatiable need for a whipping boy and Cameron was the man. I suspect Nystrom is next on the docket, even if he does play an average game. Skoula preceded Barker, in case you were wondering.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Barker play on a pairing with Duncan Keith during his breakout year and Seabrook was with Campbell and/or Byfuglien whenever they decided make him play D?

I don't think anyone wants to break up Seabrook and Keith right now.

From a Leafs fan perspective I'd easily do Komisarek for Barker

Someone doing an average job wouldn't have been sitting in the press box watching 3 rookies play in front of him like happened a few times last year.

And from your comment, you obviously have no clue how the fans are in those cities...

My path went Dupuis, Veilleux, Nystrom (just because of how much he falls down) I skipped/took a couple years off from having an official pick

We never want to see Barker in Hawk uniform again ,, Truly awful + We have Leddy going forward who is much younger and plays like he wants to better himself

Also it was mostly Matt Walker as his D partner at even strenght on our bottom pairing. Walker had to cover for Barker's bad D

Anyone who has seen Walker play (Lightning fans can tell you) is not a good hockey player

What does he have one year left? Given how the Isles just swung and missed at Ehrhoff, I'd take him off waivers and give him a shot for a year. What's the worst that could happen

Hearing MIN was unable to work out trade involving Cam Barker. It's likely he'll be on unconditional waivers at noon for purposes of buyout.

He sucks but some team wil take a chance on him.

Even at the time of the deal, I was really shocked that Leddy was part of the deal. Minny got screwed on that one....
