Whose lundquist?

I put him right behind thomas.
The top five of Thomas, luongo, rinne, miller and Hank ate interchangeable as the season goes on.

Brodeur should not be anywhere near that list, that's for sure.

Not hard when you backstop during the bulk of the Trap Era facing 15 shots a night... look at the Devils' backups' stat lines... quite comparable to Brodeur's, in fact, almost identical.

It's understandable. At this point though he's a shadow of his former self.

To answer your question I would go

1. Thomas
2. Lundqvist
3. Miller
4. Rinne
5. Price

You can't really go wrong with anyone there. They're basically interchangable.

This isn't going to end well. A Lundqvist thread on the Rangers board where not only is his name spelled wrong, but he's ranked 4th? Fun... most of us feel Hank is top 3 if not #1.

brodeur is highly over rated. i could have played goalie for the devils in that era and would have similar stats. marty sucks ****

I like how everyone conveneiently forgets Broduer has been very good later in his career in this era too. That said marty has no business in the top 5 anymore. Hank is 1 Rinne 2 Thomas 3 Miller 4.

no one is saying he isnt good but the constant overrating of him makes me sick. and he has been more embarrising than very good in this era.

The only goalie I would take over Hank is Rinne, if we were forced to do a goalie for goalie swap with any team.

I understand the homer tendencies of a Rangers/Devils rivalry and not wanting to give an inch.

But if you know even a minute thing about hockey & have ever played the game in a true competative setting there is no way you can insinuate Brodeur is all about the team he played behind.

That defence and system along with his efforts made for a pretty dominant run only outdone by a very few other teams who had elite forwards mixed in such as Det, Col, & Dal for a couple years. But Marty was a sick goaltender for his first 5-6 years in the league and still a top 5'er up until about 3 years ago.

The NYR fan in me dosent like to talk such things, but the realist in me can conceed he was one of the best of his generation only outdone by arguably Hasek and equaled only by Belfour with Richter & Cujo trailing their heels. Not considering Roy who was around for a few years before those guys.

On topic: I hope us NYR fans are soaking up what we can. IMO, Hank could be legendary if he keeps up his pace and we may be witnessing a very wealthy time in Rangers history soon thanks to Gordie Clark when his work comes to fruition in the next few years here.

Ryan Miller is not the best goaltender in the NHL. One year does not a career make. Aside from his dominant 2009-2010 season, he has been above average at best. Excluding that year, he has never had higher than a .918 sv% or lower than a 2.45 GAA.

Lundqvist is the best goalie in the league, not counting this year, counting the day he made his first steps onto the NHL ice.

How is Luongo in 2nd and Thomas in 5th?

After Thomas completely and thoroughly out-played and completely dominated Luongo in The Finals, for the Cup win; you put Thomas at #5? LMAO!

Brodeur doesn't belong any where up there.

Henrik is somewhere between 10th and 7th. Maybe. Lundqvist is grossly over-rated by some Rangers fans. He's a Regualr Season compiler and a Playoff choker.
