Waiting on $ figures before being happy or not, but a good depth signing. Physical guy, solid on the bottom pairing.

Meh, will be interesting to see the numbers. I like him better than Rome. But we seriously better have a plan in place to replace Ehrhoff.

Good depth signing on AA. Hopefully he's the 7th guy.

Good to hear. Liked him quite a bit better than Rome during the regular season...too bad he got hurt and never really got going again.

Glad to have him back as a depth D man.

That would mean Rome is the #6 guy.

Great re-signing if not only to keep the best (worst) nickname in the NHL on the team

Hint: Curtis Joseph is to CuJo as Andrew Alberts is to ____ ?

I'm happy with this.

Right now the defense looks like (assuming Salo does resign of course)

Hamhuis - Bieksa
Edler - ?
Alberts - Salo
Rome - Tanev

Overall good, it'll be Ehrhoff's replacement that will be key.

1.225 per. I thought he'd be around 1.25 so that's not bad. Good depth guy.

I guess that means Rome moves up to #5 on the depth chart.

Per Matt Sekeres, $1.225 cap hit per season.

Good depth move. I like him as our steady 6/7 guy, moreso than Rome.

Consistently physical.

Ouch. Bit steep for me....would have preferred under $1mm. Oh well, we can trade him if it doesn't pan out.

Sounds reasonable. His contract before was $1m so I think people were a little unreasonable expecting less than that.

As it stands right now (assuming we lock up Salo) we have 9 guys I'd feel comfortable with playing at least NHL 6th D minutes:

Edler, Hamhuis, Bieksa, Salo, Ballard, Alberts, Tanev, Rome, Parent.

I think we're likely to add 1 more defenseman as well. We're pretty well equipped to deal with injury on the back end.

Cap hit is fine. I think he made around 1.1 last year so it's the same or maybe even a bit less in relation to the new cap.
