I have been saying that for a long time. I would hate to give up on the guy after half a yr. He is only 1 yr removed from scoring a ton of goals

he needs to get a shot and if he does not have a good yr well he is not qualified and becomes a UFA next yr. He is worth a shot for the yr given this team lack of scoring and talent

Looks good to me. However we may need a guy with a little more grit and board work on the top line to make more space for Richards, and Gaborik. I still think Frolov is worth a shot. Everyone has thrown him under the bus, he didnt play great last year but i felt is absence around playoff time. Hes put up goals and numbers and is a Right shot that could be good playing left wing with Gaborik and Richards. If not u try him on another line but id like to give him a another try.

From what ive seen Princess Wolski is not going to do anything other than tally the occassional points. Id rather a guy that plays a more complete game like Avery getting me 35 points than Wolski say 45 who does not play a complete game and has not grit, cycle, get under the skin in his resume. If he showed up at a training camp a new man, rejuvanated and ready to roll, sure give him a shot but seeing his play last year makes me want to pass on him. Again talent does not mean much if you dont have the other assets in your game to establish that talent. He needs a lot of work and whether he puts it in, is a questiont that may be awnsered if he is givena shot at training camp. But then even if he makes the team, there is a good chance he reverts back to his old play and is a liability to the team.

Avery--Stepan--Jagr(STEPAN gets more goals than Brad for 1/10 cap)

Anisimov-Handzus-Gaborik(Handzus is here for Faceoffs+Size)

E.C.--DubinSky--Callahan(E.C. has the skill to complement the D-n-C)

Prust-Boyle-Artukhin-(Size overload-16-20 goals from 2 of these guys)

hagelin/mILLER-weise-zucker (spares)

STAAL--GIRARDI (top 10 duo in the league)

mCDONAGH-MDZ(speed,passing, hopefully McD can cover MDZ's error)

Pitkanen-Sauer(SIZE w/ 25 minute per game ability)1yr@5.25m- Joni

ERIXON-Gilroy?(good spares but seems like Gilroy is going UFA)

This team needs Stepan to improve on faceoffs and HandZus to click w/Gaborik the rest is key. Dubinsky and Callahan want Arbitration fine.... they hijack the NYR cap and get sent to the 3rd line to keep their goal totals a modest 20-25 from the 3rd line they'll be the shorthanded threat that PRust showed to be earlier.

4th line is a monster line w/ a little bit of speed and tons of reach and dominant size. Expect fights to break out when DUBI+Callahan are replaced w/ Boyle line.

as for Brad Richards ...I watched quite a bit of him during 2009-2011 and post concussion he wasn't the same player...the comparables to C.Drury are very real since both won the cup as clutch scorers from the SECOND LINE. Key is that the MVP Conn Smythe went to BRAD after he played super physical during the playoffs and created more room for his line...THAT isn't going to happen to a 32 yr old post concussion paid 6,000,000 more than when he was in a contract season making under $1m.

His faceoff advantage and ability to fool people into thinking he's going to shoot before passing are the only edges he has over Stepan since weight is similar enough and Derek Stepan has the intangibles to work very effectively w/ elite players...its time THE NYR start getting some more...could see AVERY replaced by a bigger harder shooting KREIDER on the Jagr line. (JAGR wants 2m /yr to go to familiar team.

I woudl not mind that lineup at all to start the season. Interesting as Stepan is a more East West center that could gel with Jagr, but AA is a center and always will be.

I see Hagelin penciled into a lot of lineups.

He definitely seems like he has an inside track on a spot on the bottom two lines if he performs well in camp. Who do you think has a better shot at making it ?

Hagelin or Thomas?

I think alot of it depends on if Feds, Avery and Wolski are around and what the team will need. I like Hagelins speed and Thomas's finish more than Averys crap play the last few years. And both of them want it more than Wolski.

If the rumors are true that Florida may move Booth, I'd love to get him on the Rangers. They still need salary so Wolski would be included (Booth makes $4.25 million). Line-up could look like:

Booth - Richards - Gaborik
Dubinsky - Anisimov - Callahan
Hagelin/Feds - Stepan - MZA/Prospal/Thomas etc
Avery - Boyle - Prust
Christiansen

Staal - Girardi
McD - Sauer
MDZ/UFA - Erixon
V-Tank

Lundqvist
Biron

^^^ I was thinking the same thing

Booth
middling prospect/pick

for

Redden
Wolski
decent pick/prospect

Florida gets about $6 million closer to the cap floor and has a nice mentor in Redden for their young d-men. Redden would actually fit on their 3rd pairing given their defensive depth.

Sign Richards.

Booth - Richards - Gaborik
Dubi - Anisimov - Cally
Hagelin - Stepan - MZA
Feds/Avery - Boyle - Prust

Yeah, that looks good. I'ts obviously a pipe-dream to include Redden . Whatever, a man can dream.

Yea good luck trying to get FLA to take our **** for still arguably one of their best players.

He may not be the same as he used to be but FLA isn't going to look to dump him just for the hell of it.

NHL network was talking about possibly Erik Cole being a person of interest to the Rangers.

I wouldn't mind taking a flyer on him for a 1-2 years. He is a power forward that does the dirty work.
