NHL LIVE just stated that " some reports are saying that talks between the Isles and C Erhoff have broken off and that the Isles may be trying to move his rights".

Holy crap those Leafs Fans are mind bogglingly stupid.

Over at the Stamkos thread, they're seriously putting the TBL because their ticket prices are so low, and gloating about how successful hockey is in Toronto.

I've said it before, but you need to keep Leafs' fans state of mind in case. Remember, they're in a similar situation to the pre-lockout Rangers, except they've given a division rival a #2 overall and #9 overall pick, and subsequently watched that division rival win the Stanley Cup.

Delusions are far better than reality at the moment, in Toronto.

#Isles trade Christian Ehrhoff's rights to Buffalo in exchange for fourth-rounder, the original price for what he was acquired

If Ehrhoff signs with Buffalo that pretty much takes them out of the Richards race no?

Sabres making moves. I like them so far. Must feel good to have a competent owner.

their 'competent' owner is the favorite to get Drury. he's also trying to sign Errorhof. i prefer our owner's strategy of going young and building from within.

Drury signed to a legitimate bottom 6 contract makes sense. Take a flyer on his knee (we did it with Vinny P) for the intangibles on a pretty young forward group. Makes sense. If Drury was here on Vinny Prospal's contract we'd have NO problem with him.

Erhoff is subpar at ES but very viable on the PP. Makes sense for the Sabres to try to grab someone like that. RR is also a very good shutdown guy and a good presence for Tyler Myers. I like most of the moves they've made.

Our owner's strategy was letting Glen Sather ruin this franchise up until a few years ago where he decided drafting good players makes sense.

Why do you have a 70M cap? The cap is 63.4. Buffalo would have about 5-6 million left if they sign Ehrhoff for 6.

The cap is 64.3, but the summer cap adds an extra 10% (6.43mil).

That's why the Rangers can afford Richards.

The new CBA needs to eliminate the trading of players solely for negotiation rights.

This has been getting out of control this year. Mike Rupp's rights being tried as a commodity? It ruins the idea of free agency.

Up the UFA age to 29 in order to provide incentive for drafting well and often, and make it so playerc cannot be dealt after the deadline in the waning month's of their contract before unrestricted free agency.

The Sabres don't have a Wade Redden that they plan on sending to the AHL though, do they?

Why trade for Erhoff and add salary in Kotalik and Regehr if you're serious about outbidding everyone on Richards?

The NHLPA fought hard to get the UFA age down to 27. I don't see it going back, especially if the idea of non-guaranteed contracts gains some traction.

No, they don't. In the Penguins' case, from the time the season ended up to Friday, they have exclusive negotiation rights, when Friday comes, Rupp is free to negotiate with anyone. That's very fair. If somebody else wants to negotiate with that player before everyone else does, they have every right to trade for that players rights. Even in baseball, teams have exclusive negotiating rights for two weeks until the player files for free agency, Toronto traded for Miguel Olivo during that period last year to obtain his rights (but they were really after the draft pick attached to his Type B free agent status).

we plan on sending redden to the ahl again though. thats the purpose of us spending to the summer cap cuz that cap hit is coming off the books. only one on buffalos roster that wouldnt be wanted is probably kotalik.

Buffalo would be ******** if they signed Ehrhoff to a $6 million cap hit contract. He should get something similar to Pitkanen.
