Am I the only one who thinks that Stamkos signing here would probably put the team into some sort of financial turmoil? Not necessarily for this coming season, but when RFAs need to be re-signed. Stamkos' price would be way too ****ing high, even though he is that damn good.

I really really really don't ****ing want this guy on our team...he's just not worth it IMO...
Every superstar brings financial turmoil. Elite skill usually has a heavy price.
I can see some teams can do it, but I just think how we are structured is a bit of a *****. Some teams have a big gap between super stars and the rest of the team. We have a much more rounded team, the skill is spread out, and then putting a better player right on top of that might just do problems... I hope I worded that right . What I'm saying is, look at Eric Staal. He is a super star, but no one, other than Ward, is being paid near his level. Crosby and Malkin are being paid way more than the others, except for maybe Fluery. If we got Stamkos for like 8M, we also have Briere at 6.5M, Bryz at 5.666M, Timonen at 6.333M and possibly, if Giroux just gets better and so does Schenn, expect them to have even higher pay than now. I'm not saying right now, but for the future, Stamkos will make things difficult for some of our other star players that are currently on the team.
I know some of those numbers will be gone in the future, but 8M for any player can be a bit of a hard thing to work around.

And when it comes time to lock those guys up, they will remember what happened to the last guys that signed long term deals. Don't expect any hometown discounts...

-Makes our center depth instantly in the tops again
-Young, under 22 years old
-Steal a player away from TB

-Will trade depth (Carle/Versteeg, etc.) to get him for this year alone, weakening the team as a whole.
-Just drafted a stud center and traded for another. What are the chances we sign another long term?
- Can't afford to shell out 9 million or so this year
- Won't be able to re-sign key guys like JVR, Giroux, Coburn
- We lose even MORE future than we have in the past 4 years.
First he refuses to resign with Tampa Bay and every other team and then Stamkos says "I just really like Philly, I've always wanted to play there!" and signs for $5 million a year for 12 years

I dont necessarily care about the picks...he will trade them for something else anyway. Considered about the Cap.....and being able to build the team around him

call me a pessimist but i dont see us signing both giroux and jvr. so **** it, lets get stammer
Not if you get Stammer you arent....if you dont get stammer you sign them both. (Think Richards and Carter part 2, hopefully except they stay and get a Cup)
Well the 9 Million is just a guesstimate. I can't imagine TB not matching anything below that. And we don't have that kind of cap space. Really all we need to do is re-up Simmonds and Voracek, bring in either Leino or Cole, and add a grinder/4th liner. I think our lineup is great just with those minor additions.
And JVR, Roo and Coburn...I mean to say it is highly unlikely that we could keep them. I'm liking the way they all have gone and want to keep them.
