As the poster below you mentioned, Lebda would have to also be included. If Brett is too much a part of your core, which I completely understand, you'll have to send back Jeff Finger. It's only fair.

Lebda's a human Stanley cup. He is a very integral part of our core... Finger is currently our #1 center so an overpayment will be needed

This is what I would offer. It doesn't touch our core, Av's get some decent prospects here and a 2nd round pick. Komisarek helps them get the salary they are losing with Statsny. All in all, it may not be enough to some of you, I think it's a pretty fair deal that's good for both sides. I think this is something to work with.

Komisarek
Colborne
Gunnarsson
Choice of Scrivens or Rynnas
2012 2nd round pick

I see, I see. Do you guys still have Raycroft? I figure he may be lost in the shuffle in net behind Reimer, Rynnas, and every other roster player, so I think a deal could be made, perhaps centering around one of Colorado's all-star dmen?

I wish, he was too good for our team so he left...

How about Jeff Finger's finger for Adam Foote's foot?

Gonna take this thread seriously only for this 1 Post. Why would the avs trade a Superstar Player for a bunch of Extra type players, Quality for Quality not Quantity, thats been the problem with most Leaf proposals regarding Stastny, u dont want to give up your core so you give us extras, if you dont want the Extras why would we want them! Thats why any trade involving Stas would need at least Schenn+ coming our way!

Anyway back to the funny things, I think free Health care for the Avs would help the, especially considering all the Injuries they have, they wont have to pay the bills for those anymore cause they will be FREE!!!!!!

All kidding aside, they were actually a pairing here in Colorado. I remember one game, Foote injured his hand and Finger injured his foot. It was funny, but secretly awesome because it meant neither would be on the ice.

Whoa whoa whoa. I want a 7th, this is a really deep draft remember?

On a serious note, you need to give quality to receive it.

Komi - Useless to the Avs. They just got rid of Liles, why do they want Komi? The Avs prospects are going to be stepping in soon.

Colborne - They're deep at the C position, Stazz, Duchene, Radar, McClemment, Hishon, etc. Avs also don't need/want a big soft prospect.

Gunnarsson - Elliott, Barrie, Gaunce can all do what he can.

Scrivens or Rynnas - The Avs need a #1 G, not prospects. The Avs have their man in Calvin Pickard prospect wise, and Aittokallio as well.

You mean you never heard the song...?

Who's that newest tiny defenseman in Colorado? HUNWICK!
Who's that bad mothertrucker with the golden locks? HUNWICK!
Who just fumbled the puck right onto the stick of an unguarded sniper in the slot? HUNWICK!
Who's that allegedly offensive defenseman who put up 10 of the baddest, most insane assists you'll ever see...all season? Aw baby, you know it's gotta be Hunwick!

Yeah it's Matt Hunwick.

Hahaha, at least he put up 10 assists... Lebda played forward some games and still only had 2 points the whole season.

Not to mention the Great Lebda finished -3 in a 9-3 win.

I would love to see a Lebda-Hunwick pairing .... Lucky me, the all-star game is in 9 months !

Stasny

A combination of random players that have 'K' starting their last names and a couple 1st round picks to fit Burke's M.O.

In response to your offer, value is fair, but not to Colorado. One, Colorado is bracing for the new CBA. No contracts past this year (with the exception of Stastny.) I can see them offering Vokoun one, just to assure themselves a number one goalie, but there's no way Sherman takes Komisarek's contract on. He's overpaid by about a million-ish, and he's signed for what, three more years? Colborne is at this point, a prospect. A very good prospect? Irrelevant. Colorado needs someone to hop onto the number 2 center spot without missing a beat, and I don't think anyone is confident Colborne will do that.
Gunnarsson I like. Arguably the crux of this trade. I'd be happy to get Carl, but obviously not straight up for Stastny, and the rest of this package doesn't make up the difference for Colorado. Rynnas/Scrivens are also prospects, and Colorado already has three strong goaltending prospects in Pickard, Patterson, and Aittokallio (although I'm less knowledgeable on the last one.) When it's said that Colorado needs a goalie, it's meant that they need a starting goalie. One who could go onto the ice in the season opener, get shelled, and not lose his mental game. And a 2nd is a 2nd.
If you add up the value of all the pieces you offered (not that I believe for a moment it's possible to truly quantify player value) you'd probably get a Stastny level player. Will you get that player from Colorado, given their strengths, weaknesses, and immediate needs? I don't think so. If you couple this with the fact that Stastny is not a niche player-- there are several teams in the league that could and probably would offer up enticing deals for him, I think your offer, even if Colorado management disagreed with me and thought it would be more beneficial to the team than holding onto Stastny, would be outdone by an offer from say, Buffalo.
The hole Stastny would leave in Colorado is bigger than the one filled by adding Gunnarsson, Komisarek, Colborne, and Rynnas.
