Mike Commodore (for buyout)

Per Aaron Portzline twitter:

Mike Commodore has been informed that he will be put on waivers with the purpose of buying him out. Put as speculation as not sure if he is a reliable source.

He's Columbus' beat reporter. If he's reporting something like that it's fact. If he's telling you what coach the team is going to hire or which free agent they're going after, it's fiction.

Commodore was even interacting with fans today on twitter joking about what life will be like on waivers tomorrow.

Also if he's telling you the worth of Nikita Filatov, we wish it were fiction but it's probably fact.

Anyways, nobody took Commodore the first 80 times he passed through waivers and re-entry. Doubt they'd take him now.

Is it true he has vision problems? Does this contribute to his slowness?

Is he good enough for a team to offer him a low salary as a bottom pairing defenceman? Or is he not an NHL level player at all anymore?

Commodore has suited up more for this team "Waivers" than he did for the CBJ this season....

Why doesn't Carolina claim him on half his salary?

I don't follow CLB much, but can anyone tell me why they would buy him out? (what's the point)
He still seems to be serviceable as a bottom-pair D

I'm not sure if it was just Commodore doesn't fit the uptempo system, but the general consensus around CBJ, is that Mike Commodore doesn't belong in the NHL anymore. Maybe be used as a servicable #6-7 on a weaker team but at 3.5 million you might as well buy him out.

Commodore is a #6 defenseman who is making more than he should per year. The problem is his attitude. He's such a terrible presence in the locker room that he was sent down to the AHL and then the AHL team didn't want him near the youngsters. Last season this was rumored to be the major deterrant in why teams didn't take him for half salary on re-entry.

Yes he had a falling out with the coaching staff.

I still wonder is a Souray for Commodore swap happens. I just don't know how bad Commodore actually has become. If he can play a bottom 6 role for us that would be perfect. As for Souray to CBJ, I guess that would depend how they are doing with their talks with Wizeniewski.

Because he's not worth 1.875 million. He's strictly at best, 3rd pairing material at this point. Can do probably sign about TWO guys of that ability for that price.

Because he's slow, immobile, and a bottom pairing defensemen. Carolina already has enough of those.
