CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS
SALARY CAP: $64,300,000;
CAP PAYROLL: $63,301,428;
BONUSES: $3,940,000
CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $998,572
FA's(a list of players I believe we may be interested in): Shane O'Brien, Zenon Konopka, Michal Handzus, Fredrik Sjostrom, Erik Cole, Chris Higgins, Michael Ryder, Jussi Jokinen(long shot), Ville Leino, Scottie Upshall, Simon Gagne, James Wisniewski, Ian White, Brent Sopel.(realistically maybe one or two forwards and a defenseman, unless we somehow pull off Richards) RFAs: Ryan Callahan, Zach Bogosian, Luke Schenn, Steven Stamkos(long shot), and Brandon Dubinsky. If any trades happen, I believe they will involve Kris Versteeg or Matt Carle leaving or (if we resign Leino) I could see us trading for Valtteri Filppula. He and Leino played together (briefly) in Detroit and they know each other from Finland (I believe Filppula is from there, correct me if I'm wrong) and obviously the usual waiver suspects will go back to their real jobs in Adirondack
I actually believe the Flyers that the big moves are done and over with, and from this point on they will look to add character, leadership, and intangible qualities such as size, toughness, PK skills, faceoff skills, etc.
They have the cap space to make some big noise, but I think they have learned their lesson from throwing around money. With teams looking to spend big just to hit the floor this could be the summer of overpayments and I would like to think that the Flyers will stay out of that type of nonsense.
Acquired- Brunette i really hope not/Cole yes please/Konopka no, no and no some more/Bogo how do you propose this happens?/Boosh possibility if bob goes
Traded- Versteeg/Bobrosky
i'd like to see a veteran defensive center who can kill penalties, and win face-offs, a big bodied winger to take leinos spot, and a solid defensive d man, preferably Jan Hejda.

I like your roster. The idea of using the 3.5+ we would spend for Leino and applying it to Madden and a checking winger with offensive potential is a very good one IMO.
I know it's not likely (because Detroit has cap room) but I'd love to go hard after Patrick Eaves instead of Ward.
Also, I like O'Donnell, but I feel like his age started to show as the season progressed. I like the idea of Shane O'Brien better if we can get him.
I would probably swap out Sestito for Holmstrom and maybe put Wellwood as the 13th forward and save a little bit of money in the process. Bury Shelley in the Minors.
Take that 3.5 or so that Ville wants and float it towards Jagr tomorrow. Verbal deal with the Pens for 2 million, but Jagr doesn't seem the type to refuse near double. We'd have an interesting weapon and we'd just give the Pens a huge **** you.

I agree with both sentiments.
I think the big moves are done for the Flyers. I think they covet the flexability and depth they now have, and will look to add quality character guys to round out the roster.
The ONLY way they even sniff those numbers if they sign a very long term deal, at least four years, and the Flyers pay them based on potential for the long haul of the deal.
If they only sign for a year, two, or even three, neither Voracek nor Simmonds has done anything to earn those types of numbers and they won't get that.
Coracek hasn't done anything to deserve 3 (3 at 2.25) mil and as for Simmonds its possible, but hell most likely sign 3 years and take a lower cap hit. (3 at 1.75)
If Oshie got a 1 year at 2.35, why would you think that Voracek would get more over more years? Not gonna happen.
