Oh, of course. I didn't mean to imply that you can't take anything away from development camp, just that you need to be realistic about who he's competing against.

i know its just a scrimmage against many guys who would never have a shot in hell of making the NHL...but Mcilrath looked really good out there...his positioning was excellent, and they are right, he does have good feet for a guy his size.

I was thinking about this. Do you think this competition at camp would be comparable or better than the 16-19 year olds that guys like McIlrath & Thomas would be going up against in Juniors? These guys at development camp, some are considerably older, and all are vying to leave good impressions with the Rangers brass looking on. Have to imagine the competition & pace during these scrimmages should be fairly good.

It will be fun to watch him in Juniors this year. If his skating and slapshot are looking more impressive then last year, it shows he is working on the weaker aspects of the game (his skating was never bad obviously, but any improvement is good).

Unfortunately, unless he gets traded to the (Lethbridge) Hurricanes, I will only be able to watch him twice live this year and not until really late in the season (march). I refuse to pay their online prices since it is cheaper to go to a game live instead.

Good. I don't want players who smile. Smiling is weak.

What's the situation with paying to watch online? Pay per game, or pay for an entire season?

I think the other issue is that it is more informal. Someone on twitter mentioned today that it was lots of 4 on 4, which is not very similar to 99% of actual gametime. Furthermore, I am sure a lot of players leave a lot of aggressiveness out of their game (letting up on some of their hits, being more careful with their stick etc) since it is a prospects camp.

Unless they smile right after getting punched in the face like Prust does. That's awesome

It'd be better if it didn't look like he was either sizing up the camera for seduction or for pick-pocketing.

Judging by the highlight vid McIl-boulder can skate much better than I thought. (although he did fall down pretty bad once) Pretty soon I'll need a new nickname

This is good.

oh that play...it looked like the player he hit fell down, and then took his feet out from under him.

yeah just rewatched the play in question, the player definitely wraps both his feet around one of mcilraths legs just as mcilrath is about to stride.

Pretty sure you can buy the whole season too, for a particular team. I think they even have a package for all the teams for the entire season.

Wait a second, I thought Thomas was 110lb midget they way his size is usually discussed. But in that picture next to McIlrath, he looks like a normal NHL player???

Very excited to watch the videos when I get home. Also I agree with Jon, the only time I want a player smiling is when they're about to destroy someone.

And making smileys on the mobile version of the site is too hard, so I hope you all know I was joking .

I believe he said he grew an inch and added 8lbs over the course of the season. That should put him at 5'10 1/2 and 177lbs (I think).
