Goalie: Bernie Parent 232, Tony Esposito 152, Gilles Gilbert 21, Rogie Vachon 17, Dan Bouchard 6, Dunc Wilson 1, Cesare Maniago 1, Gillies Meloche 1, Doug Favell 1

Defense: Bobby Orr 240, Brad Park 196, Bill White 145, Barry Ashbee 50, Guy Lapointe 42, Carol Vadnais 41, Borje Salming 32, Dave Burrows 22, Denis Potvin 21, Dick Redmond 15, Ed Van Impe 11, Phil Russel 7, Noel Price 4, Jim McKenney 4, Jacques Laperriere 4, Barclay Plager 4, Terry Harper 4, Andre Moose Dupont 4, Gilles Marotte 3, Don Awrey 3, Dallas Smith 3, Serge Savard 1, Ian Turnbull 1, Jocelyn Guvremont 1, Tom Bladon 1, Randy Monery 1, Jim Neilson 1, Larry Robinson 1, Mike Pelyk 1, Ab DeMacro 1

Centre: Phil Esposito 238, Bobby Clarke 134, Darryl Sittler 21
Syl Apps Jr 15, Stan Mikita 11, Walt Tkaczuk 4, Gilbert Perreault 3, Denis Hextall 3, Butch Goring 1, Don Luce 1, Marcel Dionne 1

Right Wing: Ken Hodge 203, Mickey Redmond 93, Bill Goldsworthy 81, Yvan Cournoyer 45, Gary Dornhoefer 3, Jim Pappin 3, Rod Gilbert 3, Pierre Plante 1

Left Wing: Rick Martin 198, Wayne Cashman 59, Frank Mahovlich 38, Dennis Hull 24, Johnny Bucyk 16, Ross Lonsberry 14, Joey Johnston 3, Ted Irvine 1, Bill Barber 1, MISSING 78

Comments: A big chunk of the votes are unaccounted for, which is strange because the voting record is 100% complete for every other position. Anyway, Rick Martin, 2nd only to Phil Esposito in goal-scoring, easily takes the first-team spot. I'm surprised that Pittsburgh's Lowell McDonald (2nd in goals, 3rd in points) apparently didn't get any votes.
The missing votes: Cashman received 77 points, and the missing Lowell McDonald was the player with 59 points. Steve Vickers was the last player with 1 point. All votes accounted for.

Updated post 103 through 1974.

Also added some stuff to 82-83, note the article on Jack Adams voting.

Now have complete voting from 66-67 to 73-74 except:
Calder in 68-69, where we are missing 33 points.
Lady Byng in 68-69, where we are missing 1 point.
Norris in 69-70, where we are missing 5 points.
Jack Adams in 73-74, where we only have the winner.

I have finished going through the thread and adding everything (except Hockey Outsiders early all-star notes) to posts 101-106.

I haven't added anything new after 83-84, but there is lots of new and corrected info before then, like all-star voting goes back to 64-65 now. Just about every year from the 40s to 84 has something added or corrected, and some before then.

Made the change of Roach to Northcott at 3rd in Hart voting as noted in several papers. Added Haynes at 3rd in Lady Byng voting also mentioned in one of the papers.

1932-33
HART: (213)
1. Eddie Shore, Bos D 86
2. Bill Cook, NYR RW 67
3. Baldy Northcott, Mtl M LW 60
Points totals from NHL Awards pdf file that lists John Roach, Det G as 3rd.
CALDER:
1. Carl Voss, Det C
LADY BYNG:
1. Frank Boucher, NYR C
2. Joe Primeau, Tor C
3. Paul Haynes, Mtl M C

Added the missing votes for Hart and Lady Byng, as well as the vote split for McFadden in the Calder voting.

1947-48
HART: (108/108, 15-12-10)
1. Buddy O'Connor, NYR C 36 (10-2-2)
2. Frank Brimsek, Bos G 18 (2-4-4)
3. Elmer Lach, Mtl C 13 (1-5-0)
4. Max Bentley, Tor C 10 (2-1-2)
T5. Ted Lindsay, Det LW 7
T5. Syl Apps, Tor C 7
T5. Ted Kennedy, Tor C 7
T8. Gaye Stewart, Chi LW 3
T8. Milt Schmidt, Bos C 3
10. Bill Quackenbush, Det D 2
T11. Doug Bentley, Chi LW 1 (0-0-1)
T11. Sid Abel, Det C 1 (0-0-1)
CALDER: (106/108, 16-1-0)
1. Jim McFadden, Det C 50 (16-1-0)
2. Pete Babando, Bos LW 22
3. Red Kelly, Det D 14
T4. Don Raleigh, NYR C 8
T4. Ed Sanford, Bos C 8
6. Bill Barilko, Tor D 4
LADY BYNG: (108/108, 16-14-13)
1. Buddy O'Connor, Mtl C 32 (9-2-1)
2. Syl Apps Sr., Tor C 16 (2-4-2)
3. Roy Conacher, Chi LW 15 (2-3-3)
4. Edgar Laprade, NYR C 14 (2-3-2)
5. Jim Conacher, Det C 10 (1-2-3)
6. Bill Quackenbush, Det D 5
7. Max Bentley, Tor C 4
T8. Jim McFadden, Det C 3
T8. Woody Dumart, Bos LW 3
T10. Doug Bentley, Chi LW 2
T10. Harry Lumley, Det G 2
T12. Jack Crawford, Bos D 1 (0-0-1)
T12. Gus Bodnar, Chi C 1 (0-0-1)

Only six players received votes for the Calder, so either the two missing points are lost due to rounding from the weighted voting, or there is an error in someones total. I have added two points to Brimsek's total in Hart voting, as there were also two points missing, but his votes as given by the NHL Awards file add up to 18.

Not that it's a huge deal but Nicklas Lidstrom's vote totals are clearly messed up for the 1999-00 Norris trophy. I'm assuming his 2nd place vote number is missing a digit.

1960-61 Hart Voting is very interesting Johnny Bower was having a great year for the Leafs while the focus was on the race between Bernie Geoffrion and Frank Mahovlich to 50 goals.

The voting seems to reflect Bower's late season injury. He missed 12 games that were split between Cesare Maniago and Gerry McNamara who combined for a 6-4-2 record arguably the difference as the Leafs finished 2 points behind Montreal 92 to 90.

Bower missed two of the first round games against Detroit and returned for the last three bur was not 100%.

How did the articles about the Hart voting treat the Bower injury.? Interesting because goalies in the early sixties received Hart consideration regularly with Plante winning the Hart in 1962.

Bower hardly gets a mention in the articles announcing the Hart winner. Geoffrion finishing strong after recovering from his mid-season injury is the only injury mentioned that I recall.

Articles when the first half votes came out had more about injuries than the final result articles. They are mostly about the player that won. Articles leading up to the announcement would likely have more in that vein.

Amazed that Sloan almost overtook Beliveau for the Hart in what was Beliveau's greatest season.

Also interesting to see the Rocket got some Lady Byng votes as he was cerainly not a clean player.

Tod Sloan's Hart totals reflect his late season contributions as the Leafs claimed 4th place.

Beliveau got a perfect 180 (90-90) in all-star voting and Sloan was 2nd with 84 (32-52).

Maurice also got 9 points in Lady Byng voting in 57-58.

Added 101 points to the Hart and 23 to the Calder.

1934-35
CALDER: (27-13-6) 27 votes
1. Sweeney Schriner, NYA LW (26-)
2. Bert Connelly, NYR LW (0-9-4)
3. Nels Crutchfield, Mtl D (0-4-2)
?. Bill Miller, Mtl M C (1-)

27 votes cast with only two players getting 1st place votes. Point totals not given, so not sure if it's the same 3-2-1 method used for sure in 36-37.

1935-36
CALDER:
1. Mike Karakas, Chi G
2. Bucko McDonald, Det D
3. Joffre Desilets, Mtl RW
4. Polly Drouin, Mtl LW

No points or voting given.

1936-37
CALDER: (163/168) 28 votes, possible 84 points
1. Syl Apps Sr., Tor C 79
2. Gordie Drillon, Tor RW 25
3. Ray Getliffe, Bos LW 17
4. Neil Colville, NYR C 16
5. George Brown, Mtl C 13
6. Turk Broda, Tor G 8
7. Jim Fowler, Tor D 5

Apps has at least 23 of the 28 first place votes.

1937-38
CALDER: (171/180) 30 votes, possible 90 points
1. Cully Dahlstrom, Chi C 56 (13-)
2. Murphy Chamberlain, Tor C 37
3. Des Smith, Mtl M D 18
4. Bingo Kampman, Tor D 16
5. Carl Liscombe, Det LW 15
Clint Smith, NYR C 16; Bobby Kirk, NYR RW 10; Eddie Wares, Det RW 3 (not eligible but voted for)

The eligibility rules seem to be that you couldn't even have dress and not played in a previous season, because Kirk at least isn't credited with any other games played.

1938-39
CALDER: (201/204, 30-18-10) 34 votes, possible 102 points
1. Frank Brimsek, Bos G 70 (18-6-4)

4. Jack Crawford, Bos D 10
5. Wilf Field, NYA D 6
6. Bill Summerhill, Mtl RW 3
7. George Allen, NYR LW 2

If you assume Giesbrecht received all 4 of the remaining 1st place votes, his split would be 4-9-14.

I haven't been able to find a complete voting record for the all-star teams earlier than 64-65.

So here's what I've been able to find for 63-64.

1963-64
ALL-STAR TEAMS:
GOALTENDER: (280/324, 162-118) Glenn Hall, Chi 132 (88-44); Charlie Hodge, Mtl 97 (23-74); Johnny Bower, Tor (26-); Ed Johnston, Bos (12-); Terry Sawchuk, Det (9-); Jacques Plante, NYR (4-)
DEFENSE: (525/648, 324-201) Pierre Pilote, Chi 168 (88-80); Tim Horton, Tor 124 (80-44); Elmer Vasko, Chi 94 (54-40); Jacques Laperriere, Mtl 43 (6-37); Bob Baun, Tor (17-); Harry Howell, NYR (15-); Terry Harper, Mtl (14-); Tom Johnson, Bos (10-); Al MacNeil, Chi (9-); J.C. Tremblay, Mtl (8-); Jean-Guy Talbot, Mtl (6-); Doug Barkley, Det (5-); Carl Brewer, Tor (5-); Marcel Pronovost, Det (4-); Allan Stanley, Tor (2-); Bill Gadsby, Det (1-)
CENTER: (282/324, 162-120) Stan Mikita, Chi 145 (60-85); Jean Beliveau, Mtl 117 (82-35); Dave Keon, Tor (10-); Phil Goyette, NYR (4-); Bill Hay, Chi (3-); Murray Oliver, Bos (2-); Henri Richard, Mtl (1-)
RIGHT WING: (298/324, 162-136) Ken Wharram, Chi 144 (76-68); Gordie Howe, Det 113 (45-68); Andy Bathgate, NYR (28-); George Armstrong, Tor (12-); Bernie Geoffrion, Mtl (1-)
LEFT WING: (292/324, 150-109) Bobby Hull, Chi 180 (90-90); Frank Mahovlich, Tor 44 (25-19); Camille Henry, NYR 33 (-); Dave Balon, Mtl (25-); Ab McDonald, Chi (6-); Gilles Tremblay, Mtl (2-); John Bucyk, Bos (1-); Dean Prentice, Bos (1-)

I found a complete 1st half voting record, except it is missing 12 points at LW. I found the same record and error in several papers, so it's probably directly from the press release.

Camille Henry was 2nd in LW voting in the 2nd half and finished 3rd overall, but is missing from the 1st half voting, so he likely got the missing points.

For the 2nd half, all I can find is the totals for the 1st and 2nd teams and Henry, and his 33 points might be for the 2nd half only.
