Year 3 - 18 million
Year 4 - 15 million
Year 5 - 10 million

You try and see if Tampa can afford 45.6 million the first 2 seasons.....or 78.6 over the first 4 seasons.....

If we need more room, I say buy out Wolski too.

Stamkos is worth the money, the cap hit and the loss of Wolski & Drury.
4 first round picks over the next 4 years would most likely result in picks IMO from 22-30
I like your optimism, but do you really see us finishing in the top 4 in the east the next 4 years? Sure would be nice!

And even if we buy out Wolski would we have 12.8M in space for next season?

I'm fairly certain a player can only make a certain percentage of the cap and it's no where near 20 mil, let alone 25 mil.

I could be dead wrong but I believe its the cap hit that actually counts.. not the amount of money... could be wrong though.

That could be right; it's definitely something to do with a percentage.

Don't you think if Rangers go offer sheet that they would see retaliation against DUBI Cally or AA ? Just don't think Glen would do it.

I think you consider something like this for Crosby, not for Stamkos. The Bolts would find a way to match anyway.

I agree.

How is Stamkos better than Crosby? Crosby would've had the better season this year without the concussion, and he doesn't play with ANYONE nearly as talented as MSL.

I love Stamkos. I think he's a fantastic player. But I'm not digging a 12 million cap hit for 8 years considering we don't have our own MSL.

Malkin is a pretty talented player, and they do play together sometimes during games, and on the PP.

with that said, of course Crosby is better...but Stamkos isn't a slouch either. he's easily a top 5 player in the NHL. totally worth an offer sheet.

Stamkos has been in the league for three years and compared to Crosby's first three years, Stamkos has averaged about 7 goals more than him per year. Stamkos and Crosby in an average healthy year will essentially provide similar goal totals, but if the trend continues, the slight advantage goes to Stamkos under the G column. Crosby still gets the nod for best overall player though because he gets an ton of assists too while potting 40-50, but yeah, I'll settle for "just" 40-50+ goals annually with a decent amount of assists. His value will only rise. He's 21 and Already has a 50+ goal season under his belt, and backed it up the next year netting 45.

They have 7 days to match during which time they can negotiate alternative compensation with the Rangers. See the Chris Gratton RFA offersheet by the flyers many years ago. Nothing has changed in that process as far as I know.

id rather trade for Stamkos than sign him to an offersheet. frankly we need some payroll heading the other way. Dubinsky would be a great asset to move.

so 4 firsts
or something like

2 firsts & dubinsky, plus, say Boyle?

I'd rather move the 4 firsts or 3 firsts, Boyle and a 3rd

You cannot go over 20% of cap even in a single season; IE you cannot frontload a max contract.

Edge- Yzerman would match most offers, I doubt Slats ever would offer sheet a player unless he knows hens offering something that cant be matched.

I'd offer sheet Stamkos, absolutely. He's a stud. But 12 million for 8 years? No thanks. Say goodbye to secondary scoring and/or somebody like MSL to help him.

Keep in mind that the Rangers being a max salary team and with the cap rising steadily at about 5% each year that Stamkos' large annual cap hit, whatever it may end up being, would become easier to handle with each passing year.

I know this is just for fun but I don't see AA being paid that little and Callahan has us by the balls because this team isn't the same without him AND he's our next captain, so he'll be north of $4 million. I wish we could ice a team like this. We'd be looking at home ice for sure. While my preference is Stammer, I'd be happy with just one of either Richards or Stamkos.

why? are you going to save that much capspace by giving up assets that aren't picks for him?

Why would Dubinsky be a good asset to move when Left Wing is the one position IMO we DONT have good depth at, especially scoring depth.

Ah you're right I forgot to give AA a raise there. Even still, give him 2-2.5, find a league minimum #6 dman, don't carry a #7 and it'll work.

And hey, if you tell Callahan he'll play with Richards/Stamkos, I think he'll accept 4mil.

The Rangers are attempting to clear cap space apparently. While most assume this is part of their plan to get space for Richards, but don't count out the Rangers in the Stamkos hunt. The Rangers bought out Drury today, but may still need more space...

There are also many who feel Stamkos is in the Rangers plans...I am not so sure...

Sources are also telling me Stamkos will not be a Flyer.

HOWEVER, JAGR Could be a Flyer tomorrow..stay tuned.

I know it is eklund, but i figured what the heck, might as well post it here. I really am hoping the rangers can get stamkos what a huge boost in talent for this team, but I don't know if they can and resign everyone, but we shall see.

I'd offer him 17 yrs @ 9 per

153 million...job security for his career in a big city

they already have lecavs eating up 8 mill a yr for the next 8 yrs and MSL eating up 6 for the next 4....

They have no real goalie...

another 7 mill tied up in brewer and ohlund for the next few yrs

hedmans an rfa in 2

they currently only have 9 forwards under contract...

I think maybe they hope the Rangers will self destruct and take the first rounders????

At least its a real shot.
