Rangers Prospect Poll: #5 TIE-BREAKER!

With well over 100 votes, Mats Zuccarello and Dylan McIlrath are still tied.

Dylan McIlrath
Defense
Born Apr 20 1992 -- Winnipeg, MAN
Height 6.05 -- Weight 215 -- Shoots R

2010-11 Moose Jaw Warriors WHL 62 5 18 23 153

"Dylan is obviously a physical kid. That's his No. 1 thing. But he can skate well, he makes a good first pass, he can shoot, and he has an intimidating presence. He is also a big shut down guy who plays a lot of minutes."
- Jeff Gorton

__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ _____________________

Mats Zuccarello
Right Wing
Born Sep 1 1987 -- Oslo, Norway
Height 5.07 -- Weight 174 -- Shoots L

2010-11 New York Rangers NHL 42 6 17 23

"A very, very skilled individual. He has the hands and the hockey sense you need if you are a smaller player. When he played teams that were Norway's equal at the World Championships, he'd dominate the game."
- Gordie Clark

Zuccs.

Most of us still have no idea what we will get out of McIlrath.

He is still so raw that it's hard to compare him to someone like Zuccarello who is a lot closer to being polished and knowing what type of player he will be.

At least in my humble opinion.

No, let's vote on #6. There are two reasons. One is that we need to know who will be the add-on. Additionally, since McIlrath and Zuccarello were tied at 43%, and are very different players, there is a chance that whoever losses this round may not necessarily win the next round. Let's give people their say.

Agreed. For example, I voted for McIlrath and will be voting for someone other than MZA for the next couple of rounds.

Obviously you're entitled to your opinion and subsequent vote but can you explain why you think that? He's still young, led the SEL in scoring and had a decent showing as a rookie in the NHL while adjusting to the smaller rinks.

Long term Dylan is going to have more of an impact on this franchise.

I wouldn't be surprised to see MZA dealt this summer

I wouldn't be surprised one bit either. I'm not too high on MZA.

Another very close vote, but at least there's some breathing room here.

McIlrath...

Rating prospects IMHO is all about upside and value. The fact that someone is a little older and thus has had a taste of NHL experience is not a factor.

You might use that as a criteria if they were the same age & you wanted to gauge their development. Is Dale Weise a better prospect than Chris Kreider because he's played in the NHL and Kreider hasn't? It's irrelevant because Kreider is 3 years younger. And McIlrath is actually 5 years younger than MZA.

I like Zuccarello, but until he proves he can keep a spot as a top 6 NHL forward, there will always be questions about his size. He's 24. His upside is now.

If you were to offer McIlrath or MZA in a trade, which one do you think would be more likely to fetch a first round pick back?

MZA. Star in Europe, and his rookie season he was on a 45 point pace. He has some excellent playmaking off the wing.

I cannot believe the results of this....how this is even a tie. MZA showed last season he would most likely stick it in the NHL, while McIlrath struggled in JUNIORS.
