Hey, I have an Idea. Jagr has a team back home he is trying to keep going right? Why don't we get Molsons' to donate a pile of cash to them and sign him to a 8 million /2yr deal. Don't see how he could say no to that.
If he really wanted to come back to pittsburgh he wouldn't have give a damn about money. Choosing the habs over the pens because of money would mean he doesn't give a **** about the penguins. That's why I think it's the habs from day one. He is using the pens to make more money with the habs. He knows the hab can afford to pay more.
If this board was in charge of paying salaries, then this would totally be working. The question is will PG bite? A GM like Lombardi would might keep it low out of principle.
based on everything being written in the montreal media, it's martin that doesn't want jagr, not Gauthier
I'd say the media are trying to make us hate Martin. Why on earth would he refuse to have a legend like jagr in his toolbox? Reality check, coach have to deal with all kind of attitudes, cause humans are humans, not robotpyatts. Martin would be really lazy to dodge having to deal with a little bit of attitude and sacrifice the overall team quality. If he is such a good coach (which I think he is), he'll be able to deal with this for ONE freaking year.
Gotta give the agent his due, he has been able to get the offers from different teams, and seems to have a bidding war started....I hate player agents, BTW....

Why the need to circumvent a salary cap that we're not close to?
Do we have too many draft picks and need the NHL to take some away?

Take that with a grain of pepper because it can be speculation by media
I actually think it might be the biggest difference maker in the habs level of interest toward Jagr. Maybe PG is not interested. Maybe Martin is not interested. Who cares, Molson is surely interested, and that's all that matters
I'm sorry, I missed that.. what was said by Mr. Molson?
The way I understood it, we can expect Molson to push the team to hire the guy. He bought the team and came with the "I want this team to be contender within the next 2 years" attitude. Plus, merchandise. I don't think he said anything publicly about the jagr situation though.
