-Little is a center. We really need more of those...
-Hainsey has an NTC. And I'm not sure I'm keen on spending $4.5m on a d-man who doesn't play D (and I just realized you said "defensive D" and listed Hainsey. Lolwut?)
-realistically speaking the Sharks take back more salary than they ship out (assuming Wheeler, who is RFA) is re-signed
-Winnipeg is presumably not stupid enough to do this.
-I somehow doubt that Heatley wants to play in Winnipeg.
and a nitpicky little thing, but the appropriate abbreviation for Winnipeg is "WPG" not "WIN"

This would be a dream come true for SJS. Given Heatley's overall performance last season, no one in their right mind will take on Heatley and his massive contract.
Quick let's trade Heatley so we an use his cap space to sign......
Who? Let's face it. This UFA class sucks and the best ones are going to sign for stupid money and stupid term.
I'm not a huge Heatley fan either, but now is not the time to trade him.
DW will sign some depth guys who want to go to a winning team to short contracts. He doesn't need to get caught up in the bidding wars. Our top 6, top 4 (5), and starting goalie are set.
Niity is going to stay. Mitchell is going to stay. And Heatley is going to stay.
Next summer, if we need the cap space to sign Burns and Couture....it will be more realistic to talk about moving Heatley. Plus, his salary will be significantly less than his cap hit, so all the teams spending to the floor will be interested.

I agree, I'm not a big fan of Heatley but I can't see him being moved this year.
Smyth sucks. I'd rather cheer that he's off our team than boo him. And I've said Niemi sucks since two years ago when he was with Chicago. But he's not to the level of my hatred for Nabby or Heatley.
It's never going to happen, but if it did you guys have to admit we'd be a much better team overall. And I'm the biggest Heatley hater you'll find but the guy has multiple 40 goals seasons and hit 50 once or twice if I'm correct. I don't think it's much of an overpayment at all.
