Nah, I really believe Philly won't offer-sheet Stamkos.
As the media in Philly is reporting, if we give an offer-sheet to Stamkos, all of the money we offer is frozen until TB makes a decision on it. They can wait all week if they want and we would miss out on free agents if TB matches (which they will).
I've given up. It was fun...now I'm seeing if we snatch up Jagr. Oh boy will that upset Pitt fans...
The thing is, the front office had to know that sitting out of the UFA action would be the trade-off for presenting an offer sheet tomorrow before they started throwing around numbers this week, right? That reasoning just seems so sheepish to me.
I'm really starting to think Stamkos won't get an offer sheet from anyone until the dust settles from the first few days of UFA action. And if the Flyers don't spend major money on UFAs, they could get right back in on Stamkos (*fingers crossed*).
I still have the odd feeling that at 12:05pm tomorrow we are going to hear that the Flyers have signed Stamkos to an offer sheet.
If you look at the UFA targets, how many of them will really be signing on the first day. The only one I could see is Erik Cole maybe re-signing in Carolina if he receives less than stellar offers in the first portions of the day. The others are mid-level guys who I think would benefit from waiting until July 2 or whatever to see if the cap floor teams can throw more money their way.
Didn't Syvret just sign in Europe? Maybe we're bringing him back.
Actually don't mind Syvret, granted he's no Modry. Regardless, I'd rather not pay through the nose to get Stamkos. Think about it, the "next gen" comes into their own- wicked sweet. No defense at that point, granted. But, hey, that's Flyers hockey.... gaping holes.
Can't argue with you there. I'm still trying to wrap my head around Richards. Carter I kinda suspected.
But I don't believe for a second that Mez is going anywhere. Garrioch is the only guy who has thrown out that name, and his track record is worse than that of Dwayne's.
I agree, I highly doubted Mez is even thought about being moved. However, on the crazy planet-aligning hell frozen off chance he gets traded, Homer better have a sinister ****ing plan to back all this up.
