any idea on whats up with Glass? Is he just going to become a UFA on July 1 due to Vancouver not wanting him?

or, better yet, they negotiate a one-way deal with a smaller cap hit.

The faith people have in Shirokov is incredible.

As far as I'm concerned, I'll throw that guy to the Wolves. (I guess literally now...)

Would have prefered to not qualify and sign him to a cheaper ammount for a one way contract.

Why? Because he led the Moose in scoring and was +7 on a team with a lot of minuses? Because he led the Moose in playoff goals? Because in his 2 game call up he scored? Because Claude Noel said his defensive game and willingness to go to the net had improved dramatically?

Seriously - with a North American or Swedish prospect who did that, there would be a chorus of people demanding he be called up. But because he's Russian, he's automatically Fedor Fedorov.

This ^. It's not just blind faith with Shirokov. He had a heck of a season with the Moose and deserves a chance to play at the NHL level. 2 games was not sufficient IMO.

More like who the **** else is available for calllup.

With Raymond out and Sammy up there in dog years (and currently NOBODY signed as wingers in the bottom six) we ain't exactly knee-deep in depth on the Canucks right now.

Hodgson? Maybe. That's about the *only* guy. ONE.

Hi guys,

anyone know what Hansen was offered to keep him as a RFA?
For some reason Danish news reports he has been offered a legit contract.

I would think Hansen was simply qualified at his previous salary of $825,000 + 5 % = $866,250 making him a Restricted Free Agent. I don't think either side even considered that he would sign that offer, but it serves to keep his rights with the team.

Another team can now sign Hansen to a contract. Vancouver then has the right to match that contract and keep him, or take compensation in the form of draft picks. Considering the amount of $$$ Hansen could conceivably get, that would be either a 3rd or a 2nd round draft pick.

I haven't heard anything about how the negotiations are going. On HFBoards, the consensus seem to be that he could command somewhere in the region of $1.3 mill. - $1.5 mill.

Good. Than that love affair for the guy can stop. It was getting old. I wasn't impressed with his game at all. He's not an NHL player.

Neither was Grabner a year ago. And for some reason everyone kept hyping up his potential too. Weird.
