That would be pretty damn nice. Also reports that the lines of communication between the Canucks and Torres are still open, but he's going to see what other offers are out there.

DTS' expected salary range sounds about right for Higgins. I was really impressed with his grinding, physical and two-way game. Too streaky to be consistently in the top-six, but can at least fill spot duty in a pinch. Hopefully the Canucks can work something out.

Now that is DAMN good!
IMO Higgins @ 2.5 is too much, he should not be getting the same as Sammy and Raymond, both should be higher on the depth chart than him when healthy.
Higgins is a perfect fit next to Malhotra and Hansen on the 3rd line. His ability to move up the lineup is also very valuable.
Really hope this is true. Somewhere in the $1.75-2mil per range.
With how the signings are going so far this year (for other teams), wouldn't be surprised if Gillis has to go for 2.25m or even 2.5m to keep him here. I don't necessarily think that's great value, but that's what it might take.
Didn't see Higgins returning guess thought he was going back East. Laich signing that ridiculous contract made that decision easier for Gillis. Decent Tweener for the bottom lines, still hoping theres an upgrade for the second...
Higgins - Malhotra - Raymond
X - Laperierre - Hansen

$2.5mil seems a little high but what contract won't be deemed overpayment today?
Higgins was on pace for 38ES points in Florida - nearly identical to Kesler's 39 points.
He's an underrated player. Higgins gives you good value and production for the minutes he gets. Very similar to Jannik Hansen IMO.

Yup, I agree. I like him and he provides a lot of the things we don't have much of. Plus he was CLUTCH until he got that foot injury and then still played really well with it.
I don't really know if I want Higgins back..I hope Gillis is looking at UFA wingers that could provide a little more offense.
In a 3rd line role with spot duty on the 2nd he'll be a great signing. If he's expected to be full time on the 2nd line then its a mistake. Money will be the key issue, if he comes in under $2m, perfect. Over $2m and its not as good.

This pretty much sums it up, although I would be OK with as high as $2.5m. (I think he'd fetch that or better on the open market, TBH). If it's anything less than that, I would be tickled pink.
And he should absolutely be used as a third liner/spot duty second liner. Not consistent enough offensively to be a permanent fixture in the top six.
