I wouldn't mind JovoCop. Biggest problem with him is he's 35. But he reminds me of Sheldon Souray in the sense that he doesn't fight often, but when he does, watch the hell out.
Questions about his character where? He was their captain, they traded him because he was going to be a UFA and they were in cap hell. I doubt he went from a 60 point guy to a 25 point guy over one season...plus he is gritty and plays both ways. NJ did ****** because parise was out and Brodeur was either injured or sucking, once Brodeur started playing better they started winning.

Jovanovski is a 35+ so I'd be careful in offering more than 1 year...maybe 2 year deal at 3.5...2 mil signing bonus 3 mil for 11-12 and 2 mil for 12-13 so he is easy to dump if he flops.

Mark my words Langebrunner will be one of the great values this UFA season unless he gets a crazy deal like 3 years at 13-14 mil. For 1-2 years at 3-3.5/year I sign him in a heartbeat and stick him on RW with Cammy and Plekanec.
Langenbrunner type players have short effective careers and long unproductive ends based on past success. There are a lot better players available at better points in their career then he is. He would have been great years ago but that day has passed IMO. Also, we already have a good leadership core so why upset that balance? I say pass.

If Jagr signs with us today, then I say great. If he doesn't, well, no harm done. Other than Jagr, I would like to see Gauthier sign Stewart and Talbot. I think both of them could bring something positive to the Habs' lineup this coming year. And if it is possible, I wouldn't mind Gauthier trading Spacek for someone younger. Gomez, well, I just don't see him being traded today unless miracles still happen. As the old chinese proverb says, "without hope the heart breaks."

Wow, all sort of fanboys here today!
Wish list:

Jagr=simply for 1 year , its a gamble but one I would take
Anthony Stewart=big local boy with untapped touch!
Jan Hejda=Czeck connection plus a DDman to replace Hamrlik
Marty Turco=winner and good for backup duties

Why would he upset the leadership, he was with Gomez and Gionta in New Jersey when they won the cup and he also won one in Dallas...he's known as a great cahracter player and playoff performer(86 career playoff points, 18 and 17 in the years he won the cup).

It's not about "better players" it's about finding the best fit for the Habs to allow them to win a cup...you don't do taht with a team of one dimensional offensive guys, you need guys like Langenbrunner who bring skill, leaderaship and grit. Instaed of overpaying for Cole let's get him for about half the contract(1-2 years instead of 4-5 years and big money).

I don't know about "upsetting" any leadership balance, but I agree with everything else you said. Langenbrunner is a do not want, do not need.

He is the type of player we need to go further in the playoffs, and he'll probably cost half what Cole will. Skilled, gritty, character player who can get the puck to Cammy and Plekanec.

Too many chiefs, not enough Indians. I like Langenbrunner as a player but I don't see him as a missing piece to what we need.

He might be the "type" of player, but he's not "the" player. He's pretty close to done.

We don't need leino

I don't see why we need him for the top 6, we are already pretty soft in the top 6. If you want, sign a veteran like Gagne to play in the top 6 with pleks and Cammy if you wish...not to much, 1 year deal probably
Bottom 6...we desperately need toughness and grit...so I would suggest Bergeheim, Torres as an ideal fit for the 3rd line.

For the 4th line, I really like Rupp, Sutherby, Konopko, maybe Talbot as I want size on that 4th line. Talbot is not exactly the biggest guy in the world.

I would try to land an enforcer as well...Janssen perhaps....if we add toughness to our bottome six, you will see our top 6 play that much bigger.

I hope we go after Jagr, Upshall, Rupp, Konopka and Winchester. For defense, I'd try Anton Babchuck.

I'd also try to offersheet Doughty or Stamkos.

Im interested in Stewart also, as long as he doesnt have character issues as has been questioned about on the boards, but $3M is alot for a bottom 6. People, me to, have speculated Stewart has scoring upside but to pay $3M you go from it being a bonus to expecting it . However, if JM is really willing to roll 3 offensive type lines and have Eller, AK , and Stewart together, then Id say okay up to about $2.5M for2- 3 years.

IIRC he turned down a deal months ago with him getting 3.5 per year. Do you really want to pay this guy 4.5, or more ? I don't.

Wisniewski's making Markov money and people wonder why we didn't re-sign him.

When noon hits this will be the weakest UFA crop ever.

Good for Habs, we get a 5th rounder and he plays out West.

I REALLY wanted the Wiz back but definately NOT at those terms. I would have thought he'd make less then Bieksa, so to get that much more makes Wiz's contract officially, ridiculous.

Les #canadiens ont ciblé Brad Richards comme une priorité, selon une excellente source. Habs will go hard on Brad Richards today.
