The only time I could see a young team in the rebuilding stages going after a free agent would be to acquire veteran leadership (which we already have in spades) or to get competent goaltending.

Maybe, if we're not sold on our Bingo guys, we'll have to look for a solid backup for Anderson. But that's it.

I'm sure this has been addressed, but we're not at risk of losing Butler/Condra today, are we? TSN has them listed as UFAs. (But they also have greening listed too, so who knows)

So Senschirp saying Garon is our #1 target for the backup position, also we might go the trade route for a Top 6 forward instead of UFA.

Butler and Condra are both RFA's

he's shown himself to be a serviceable backup. which is what we need. if he agreed to a 2-way deal or a 1-way at league minimum i'd have no problem at all signing him.

I'd be fine with McElhinn.....

I'd be fine with McBackup as well. He did fine last year and is all we need for a season at least. I only want ten games from the NHL back-up. IMO Lehner should get half of the back-up games.

Anderson 60-65 starts
McBackup or whomever 10ish
Lehner 10-15

Something like that, barring injury.

no. we dont want lehner getting that many starts. lehner needs to be sent down there and left alone to carry the ball and dominate.

He would be my first choice as well, but Garrioch indicates Josh Harding (my #2) is the goalie target. He also mentioned they were looking at Fleischmann at forward (my #1 now that Jokinen is gone). I just hope Richards signs somewhere else than Toronto. I want to see the Leaf fans cry.

I know many of my friends were all talking that Richards was a given and that a Leafs dynasty was on the way with Richards.

It's probably because:

1. We're rebuilding, and don't really need a FA as the missing piece to make a playoff push/make us a Cup contender
2. Murray sucks at giving good contracts
3. We want to see the young kids play and earn spots

Give me a back up and Fleichmab please, this kid is about to break out, soon as he was traded to Colorado he was a PPG games player because of the increased ice time ge was given before he got injured.
