Not a bad signing. Smith has potential to be very solid especially with Sean Burke coaching him. That said, I see the Coyotes staring down a lottery pick unless they vastly over achieve. West is going to be ridiculously difficult.
Jovanovski will not return in my estimation. I suspect he'll be back in Florida.

Mike Smith -- He played just 22 games for Tampa Bay due to a knee injury and the acquisition of Dwayne Roloson, but Smith won 13 games with 2.90 GAA. He was solid in the playoffs, allowing just two goals on 48 shots in 120 minutes of relief action. He's just 29, and remains very talented.

His style will benefit our slow defense group. His puck moving abilities are up there with Turco, but he's not a proven starter and seems a bit aloof most nights. Bryzgalov 2.0.

It is worth noting that before Burke got a hold of him, Bryz had similar numbers to Smith. That said, I think if Burke can turn Smith around it would be a bigger accomplishment than his work with Bryz.
My original statement was post 208 of the Bryz negotiation rights traded to the Philadelphia Flyers thread. In it, I quoted rt above my comments. Somehow when I tried to copy and paste it here, I ended up with a link to post 205, which was by rt, but my comments below.
Washington just made a sweet deal, they got a #1 for Varlamov, and it could end up being the #1 overall pick, where they can select Nail.
I wouldn't have given up a #1 for a goalie, geesh, at least for an unproven goalie like Varlamov.
Looks like Vokoun (thinking multiple teams were in on his services) has priced himself out of the market. Now, I'm thinking that Vokoun signs with CBJ.
Just throwing this out there. VERY UNLIKELY but....... would anybody be open to signing Vokoun and maybe dropping Barbs to Portland or letting him go through waivers?
I dont know if the Yotes thought Vokoun would be open AFTER colorado and we still have TONS of cap space?
