Told you guys back in part 1 of this drama fest that Jagr wouldn't sign with the Habs.
I remember hearing reports last week or the week before that PG called Jagr's agent to say he wasn't interested. I figured when these threads still continued, that it may have been a rumor... As far as I know, they were correct, seeing I haven't heard anything about us offering him contracts.
Man the Pens must be pissed right about now .. to the Flyers of all teams?
Actually they seem pretty happy that they don't have him back. And actually I think some find it funny that the Flyers have to deal with him now. Though I guess they still need to wait and see until the season starts.
I agree with this, people are overreacting right now. What I am afraid of is PG going too hard for Richards while all the good character and role players are being signed.
While he would be focused on Richards, he must have his assistants focusing on other players, with preset 'maximum' contract terms that they are willing to give to that player of interest. And if they need his 'ok' they can always contact him via phone, email, text, etc. I have no idea if this is how it works but it would make sense to me.
Pretty amazing how every year the Flyers push so hard to win the cup. They aren't afraid to make moves.
I don't know if it's good or not, but you have to salute the balls their GM and owner have.
They certainly have their own brash style that always keeps things interesting in Flyerland.
Contrast that to the most successful franchise of the past 2 decades in Detroit who rarely make a big splash on July 1st or deadline day and focus on team stability, player development and internal growth.
Not saying that you can't win with both models, but there's something to be said for how Detroit does things.
