PHI signs Jakub Voracek to a one year deal worth $2.25M.

Quote:
The signing of Jaromir Jagr suggests the Flyers may not have much more money to play around with after signing their restricted free agents. They took care of some of that by signing Jakub Voracek to a one-year, $2.25 million contract.

Voracek and Jagr played together with the Czech Republic National Team in the 2011 IIHF World Championship team that won the bronze medal. He had a goal and two assists in nine games during the tournament.

The 21-year-old left-handed shot works the boards and has great passing abilities, but isn’t the complete package quite yet.

I expected this. It's a year where he will try to do better and make more money next year.

Good to see him signed. A bit more than I thought he would get, but still great value for a 50 point player. Still RFA after the contract.

will he still be RFA after this? I assume so, since he is only 23.

I can live with that. What's with the 1 year deals???? Hoping to get more production knowing they're playing for their next contracts OR is there a BIG FA next July?

they probably didnt want to give him more than Giroux this year, giroux is making 2,75m in 11-12.

Next year, there will be money available for a raise with Jagr money.

Meh, both sides did eachother favors. Voracek signed for a little less cap hit. Flyers gave him 1 year. Now if he has a breakout year he can cash in next season.

I don't think its the steal most people are making it out to be.

One year? Is it so he's still RFA and then maybe an extension before the season is over?
