Pens could stop now and i'd be fine with it. We are going to need talent from within to step up at some point. Tangradi can be a top 6 guy. Jeffrey and Letestu are both servicable.

Eh, I'll take it. Sullivan is a good player when healthy, period. I do agree with what Madden is currently saying though: They need a little more size.

Would rather of had Leino, but this isn't bad at all!

Well that's one old fart not worried about meshing with the younger core.

Two midgets in our top 6 - just what we need

Dupers is with Sid before Sullivan is. Sullivan is an injury prone smurf whose last "full season" was two years ago when he up up less than 2o goals.

Just so you know the main injury concern with Sullivan was around 4 years ago with his back. During the 09-10 season, Sullivan played 82 games. You should get at least 60 games out of him and he still has some great hands.

Always a favorite player of mine, but it's hard to get excited about signing a soon-to-be 37 year-old with back problems.

The good thing is that his hands are a million times better than Dupuis's.

It'll be interesting to see what he can do with legitimate playmakers. The Penguins top six is a whole different beast than the Predators has been, that's for damn sure.

Agreed. I love his character, but he is EXTREMELY injury prone and is no longer an elite scorer. Also, we are giving up a TON of size/toughness/physicality on this team.

I guess he's better than Chris Connor....

no idea who madden is.
this sounds like a cheap signing with a lot of potential if he can stay healthy. while preserving cap space for a winger at the deadline.
very safe.

Why even spend the money? Just save it, I find it impossible to believe there was another team offering him 1.5 million or even another team.

This move essentially means our entire roster is set, at least as far as free agency goes. As for the move, I don't hate it. Sullivan is a good player when healthy. We also have tons of cap space for the trade deadline where we figure to be very active.

Yeah, Rupp/Talbot leaving is tough to swallow. If Asham can stay healthy I guess it makes it easier.

This signing is pretty meh, imo.

And when has Dupes put up 20 goals recently? I like Steve's chances with Sid a million times more.

More retreads in the top6. A year from now Shero will be signing another past ther prime top six winger.

He scored 51 points in 09-10 on an offensively inept Nashville team. His production slipped slightly last year as he dealt with injuries, but posts like this one are ridiculous. Have you been paying any attention to what's gone on today? $1.5m for a guy that can put up 50 + points when healthy is a very good deal, especially when guys like Max Talbot are getting nearly $2m over 5 years.

What is the matter with all of you. Shero isn't paying Leino 3.5-4 so all of you thinking we'd pick him up are nuts. Sullivan is exactly the stopgap we need until trade deadline or next year's FA. Sullivan can be brittle all he wants, throw him on geno's line with neal and watch what he does with the open ice.

Hard to argue with this signing for just 1.5m, but thats alot for us since we don't have the cap space. I hope we make another small signing like Bergfors.
