Awesome stuff by Nieuwy to bring in more firepower. Ryder fits in right behind Loui on the right side.
Think he's got any leftover chemistry with Ribs?

Our loss is your gain. Michael Ryder can and probably will get under your skin for stretches during the regular season but just remember that Ryder will always come up big when it matters the most. Really going to miss this guy in Boston. Without his save, Bruins never pass the first round.

Enjoy!

Boom. Ryder.
Just who I wanted. Perfect for Ribs.
The day is now officially a success.
Improved wingers, improved PK, improved 7th D.

Same here. Ryder is just what he's always wanted, a right shot to go on the wing, and it's someone he is familiar with from past play.
I assumed that because it made sense and I wanted to sign him, we wouldn't do it, but I'm glad I was proven wrong. This is the first free agency I'm actually happy with in a while for the Stars and it's only a few hours in.

The Ribs-Ryder connection is obviously there, but what does that turn our top line into?
Flip Loui back to the left side, Eriksson-Ribeiro-Ryder?
Followed by Morrow-Benn-Vincour.
I can't see any other way for Ryder to end up on the top line with Ribeiro, unless Benn gets top billing and shifts Ribeiro down one (not likely).

Split Morrow and Ribeiro up? Umm... IMO don't think it's the best idea

Nice signing, is Connolly still in play or are we done?
A top six of Morrow-Ribs-Ryder, Benn-Connolly-Eriksson would work.

I really think you have to keep the Morrow's physical presence with Ribs

^Good point. But I think Loui needs to stay on that top line.

Twas my assumption as well, given that Ott and Benn seem to have chemistry, especially on the PK and shorthanded opportunities, haha.

If Benn and Ott play on the same line Ott really needs to be the guy taking the faceoffs, he's too damn good at them to let that skill go to waste. And for everything that Benn does amazing, his faceoff ability is simply not there.

I'm still hesitant to pencil in Ott as a sure-fire top-six player on this team. If he's given the reins and enough ice time, we'll see what he can do, but I'd feel better if he was relegated back to the bottom six and we got someone with more of an offensive game in there instead. Ott's just doesn't exactly scream firepower, IMO. Perfect 3rd liner, though.
