this signing is a giant UGH... would rather not sign anyone than get someone like sturm
Didn't you know fans are supposed to just snap their fingers and the deal is done?

yeah, I don't like this. The team needs a legit scorer with grit, instead they add another soft forward made of glass. Terrible.

Brutal day, lose Torres, gain Sturm. Awful.

Nice signing if he can get his legs back. Guy is a fierce competitor, and has great hand-eye.

I know he's German but this isn't really what we meant by an Ehrhoff replacement, Gillis...

Hopefully Hansen isn't in the process of being offer sheeted...

Gas in the tank doesn't do you much good if there's no wheels left on the car.

I'm personally enthusiastic to have another soldier for the playoffs. While Strum isn't what I was looking for per se, you can't deny he would've been an asset in the playoffs. And that's really all I see this signing as, post-season help. I'm hoping this won't be the only move we make this post season.

We can't even make a trade for a legitimate top six winger now. So stupid.

Considering the general overpayment going on today... I hope Gillis will make his big move later in the off-season.

Sturm was forced to undergo surgery to repair his meniscus and anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee during the 200809 NHL season. He played in just 19 games, scoring 7 goals.

Sturm injured his knee 21 seconds into Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals against Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday, May 1, 2010, and did not return for the remainder of the playoffs. Sturm would not play nearly half of 2010-2011 season due to rehabbing offseason surgery.
Lets hope his joints are ok, his speed will be down from before obviously, so hopefully MG has checked into this at least a little bit.

A bit anticlimactic for this signing, all I hope is he stays healthy.

Maybe this is just for replacing Raymond until hes healthy and Gillis is not done?

Of course we can. Why couldn't we? Plenty of room left.

Exactly. This guy almost seems like he'd be a guy you'd take on a tryout. Not at 2.25 million. What a ****ing waste of money.

Let's hope Gillis has something else cooking - to ship Raymond out or something.

So far this team is worse than last year. Down Ehrhoff, Torres and up Sturm. Bad.

WTF were we not after Ben Eager? That's what they need on the 4th line.

Good god, really...I'd rather not sign him and see if one of the young guys could step up, hell I've rather have Raffi. Silly move and waste of cap space.

It's obvious after the Hoff that we need to have at least one German on our team at all times.

Come on, man. You forgot about the addition of Mark Mancari!

I'm feeling sick.

They need a guy that cost his team the WCF? Really?

The price seems a bit high for someone who in reality is a third liner for us. Low risk on the one year and could turn out better than people think. Not an ideal signing but not a bad one either. Lighten up folks.

I would have rather signed Brunette or even Ward at his deal than this.

I'm sure Gillis has gotten a clean bill of health, but this guy has been irrelevant for almost two years now.

Only if we move somebody already in the top 9 and with some salary going out.
