Simon Gagne rumors (update: signed with Los Angeles)

MOD EDIT

Update regarding Brad Richards:

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/07/03/sp...gewanted=print

Quote:
On Saturday, Richards announced his decision: to sign with the Rangers for nine years and $58.5 million. The deal reunites Richards with John Tortorella, his coach in Tampa Bay when the Lightning won the Stanley Cup in 2004 and gives the Rangers the elite centerman they have long sought to set up their top sniper, Marian Gaborik.

Richards, 31, chose New York over the Kings, who made an offer believed to be slightly higher than the Rangers. The Toronto Maple Leafs, the Calgary Flames (who reportedly offered $65 million for nine years) and the Philadelphia Flyers were also among the “three or four” teams whose offers Richards slept on overnight. Tampa Bay and the Buffalo Sabres withdrew from the bidding Friday night.

Sources say Calgary going in with a big pitch for B.Richards. believe it or not...Flyers in as well. Not sure how. very interesting.

No we aren't. That's flat out wrong. It just isn't possible. I refuse to believe it, and I'm sticking to my guns.

If by big pitch, they mean trying to convince him to play here for 2M for one season.

well....

capgeek:
The #Flyers can still have up to about $8m in cap space if they put Laperriere on LTI and leave Schenn off their opening-day roster.

would that be enough?

The terms are:

#1: He agrees to wear the number 18.
#2: He agrees to be the team captain.

That's about all I got... I just need to make sure I can still put this Richards jersey to good use...

WTF ?

#NHL news. Don't take your eyes off #Flyers for 1 second. Word is they made a solid pitch to Brad Richards that may make them frontrunners.

I love July

Richards is still a PPG player. If we get him, we vault right back to the top as far as Cup Contenders.

Hypothetically, let's say our "big pitch" drives the price on Richards up.

And hypothetically, let's say he signs w/ Tampa.

Then, hypothetically, Stamkos would be available via a sign and trade... right? Maybe for about $8 Million per year?!?

Trade them Couturier and 2 firsts?

Make it happen Homer?

So we might troll the living **** out of Pitt AND NYR in one day? That would be truly historic.
