Lol yep don't forget he will only play 10-15 games this season if Price is healthy, i just find it questionable to pick Budaj when Conklin and Auld were still available...

Don't know why the signing is being panned. He's just the backup. Price should play 65-70 games, relax.

This, this, a thousand times this.

I don't get the problem with some of you people.

Conklin has really fallen off since going to St. Louis. I would probably take Budaj over him, too.

Meh, Carrer .902....

Auld is .905 and Garon .904 so it's pretty much a wash.

Anyway who care when u have this guy playing over 65 games?

Welcome, Peter! Just be ready if an injury occurs and be prepared to play at least 15 games

Anyone know why he played only 15 games on 2009-2010 season? Injury?
That's the year we rode andersons back to the playoffs.

Both Auld and Budaj sucked...

Perhaps make Price play 70 games this season again.

Meh. It seems like the Habs with Price can probably get more out of the "intangibles" of their backup than whatever the backup does on the ice. Auld was a good fit in that sense. Dunno what Budaj will bring, but if it wasn't broke (IMHO last season it wasn't... although us fans aren't well-placed to judge the intangibles) then I don't see any point in trying to fix it by bringing a new guy in.

Signing a guy with confidence issues is a bit of a gamble, but he probably won't play much.

Don't let his numbers deter you, it was a combination of bad defense and bad coaching. I still think he is an average, slightly above average NHL back-up.

Andy was better, that's why.

Montreal fans should love him in my opinion, perfect backup goalie. He always plays best for 2 game stretches after sitting for ~5 games.

Seems like a downgrade from Auld IMO.

Which I find humorous. You may see Budaj once of the six times Montreal and Boston face each other.

Needed to sign a goalie who wouldn't argue with riding the pine most of the year. Auld likely wanted more playing time, he'll get it in Ottawa (by maybe 1-2 games). Budaj will practice and open the door for the guys during the game without any complaining. That is his biggest asset to the team because let's be honest, Price will get 70 games again this season, maybe more.

I hope Prive won't play that much - certainly never back-to-back games - and be top notch for the playoffs.

Budaj is a fantastic locker room guy and great for the community. Good signing, will miss him in Colorado. (Not for his play)

You never know, a change of scenery can sometimes be the kick in the arse that a player needs. Watch Price go down early in the season and Budaj channels Roy....

I hope they don't play Price for more than 67-68 games...want him to be as ready/fresh as possible for playoffs. Of course we have to get there first (don't want to get too cocky!).

Budaj...I'm happy with the signing. I hope Price is too (backup goalies are important to #1 goalies).
I hope I'll be happier when I get to see him play a few games this season (hopefully all of the games that are back-to back, well one game in all of the two-games-in-a-row during the season!).

Didn't Price and Auld get along quite well?
(but Auld maybe wanted more ice-time...Ottawa? Anderson is pretty darn good, so maybe Auld won't play that much in Ottawa either? only time will tell as the saying goes!).

I have a feeling Ottawa will have a better season with Anderson. Just a matter of all the other pieces coming together (Ottawa has had bad luck with goalies in last few years...maybe it's about to improve dramatically...even though Emery has had success I was never a fan of his style).

Welcome to Montreal, Budaj!!
