I'd take Gagne on a 1 year deal. I'd imagine he'd be looking for a 2 or 3 year deal though.

Anything more than 3mill per would be risky, IMO.

Eller is a center and the one that should replace Scott Gomez. We should put him in the center. DD could always play next to him, but if we want to be contenders, the best options is to have 4 good lines and with Simon Gagne it is possible. I just don't see him signing at 3m$/per year with the habs. There is alot more chance that we see the lines that you are suggesting.

Haha two things made me laugh from the whiners all week

1. "gauthier doesn't have the guts to take risks"
2. "gauthier cannot recognize this teams needs"
3. "molsons are cheap and want to save money"

With one signing, all three complaints were shot down.

Tanner Glass signed with Winnipeg, as per Dreger.

Tell me how Gagné-Eller-Kosty is not a better line than Eller (on the wings where he struggles) - DD -Kosty.....

Put DD on the 4th with White and a tougher, speedier player than Moen who you will trade, make Darche your 13th forward and you're done.
Yeah, I understand that Eller plays better at the center position, I put him there only because he played there at some point in the season, but he can switch. What Im trying to say is, why having one of these 3 on the 4th line, they arent made for this role. Im not sure I would like to see DD on a 4th line...

I'd have no issues giving him 3-3.5M for 3 seasons.

I can't see him ever producing less then a guy like Kostitsyn, and he's a good player on both ends of the rink. Adding Gagne to our current line up would give us the best depth at the wing position in the whole league.

Well, I guess I'd be okay with a 2 year deal, as long as it was for nothing more than 3mill per. But I just wouldn't feel comfortable giving Gagne 3 years at this point.

We still need another forward in my opinion.

I very rarely disagree with you, but giving gagne anything more than 2 years is downright scary.

Phillie is aiming to turn over their whole roster this off season...if they add anybody they need to make another move, as it stands, they'll need all their room to sign Simmonds and fill out the roster with low paid players.

Is it just me, or does anyone else still have trouble instantly processing "Winnipeg" as an NHL team? Every time I hear Winnipeg has done something, I have to stop for a moment and think what the hell is going on.

Funny thing is that I don't have that problem, but another. I always identify them as being the old phoenix coyotes and not the old thrashers

If Philly signs Richards, I would throw an offersheet right away to Simmonds. I wouldn't give them any extra time to figure out how to make some room.

It would have been nice to get Talbot too along with Cole. I like the Cole signing but it isn't enough. I hope the Habs are working on a trade. Only scraps left other than Richards who might not be worth the asking price. We know he isn't coming here so..

This is sheer genius.

I'd have no problem losing a pick or two to nab Simmonds. If Philly matches we just put them further to the cap, it's win-win really.

The idea would be to play your top 3 lines more than anything else. Than your 4th becomes specialists. You have DD and you surround him with tough players. You also have a need for DD on the PK. Gagné would have been a perfect fit for what this organization is looking for. If not, Bergenheim fits the profile as well. A surprising move would be Fleischmann. But that's more offensive than good skater/role player.

Offer sheets are really only attractive until you can be targetted. Holmgren is not a GM i'd like to piss off, seeing as how Subban and Price could be pretty good targets for RFa's

Day 2 what to expect?

I think we should eye 4 players and wrap it up.

Anthony Stewart
Jamie Langenbrunner
Brad Winchester
Kent Huskins

Not saying get them all but I think these guys would help complete our lineup.

I would like this

Cammalleri Plekanec Cole
Pacioretty Gomez Gionta
Kostitysn Eller Langenbrunner/Stewart
Winchester Desharnais Moen

Ex. Darche/White

Markov Yemelin
Gill Subban
Huskins Gorges

Ex. Spacek/ Weber

Price
Budaj

To each their own.

I know I'm happy with AK's production with his current cap hit, Gagne can reach those types of numbers while playing 20-30 less games. That's all it comes down to for me, is injuries. People talk as though Markov is made of glass, if that's the case then Gagne is made of glass from China.

There is definitely probably better options out there. I hope PG isn't done, I think the Cole signing is just HUGE for us in terms of improvement of the product on the ice and if we can add another solid Top 9 winger we are going to be laughing.
