The Dallas Stars will try to beat the curse vs the Minnesota Wild tonight. Ever since coming into the NHL, the Wild have given the Stars a hard run for their money, including a 6-0 whooping 2 years ago. Last season, the teams met 4 times, with the Wild winning 3.

ABOUT THE STARS -- The Stars snapped a two-game losing streak with a 4-2 home win over Washington on Friday. The Stars debuted their new third jerseys in teh Washington game. "It did look like they were a little bit faster," Stars coach Dave Tippett joked. So far this season, the Stars are 3-0-0 when they score first and 0-2-0 when they don't. Brenden Morrow and Stu Barnes lead the Stars with plus-five ratings. Mike Modano is a team worse minus-four. Stars goalie Marty Turco has allowed two or fewer goals in four of his first five starts.

The Dallas Stars top player so far:

Phillipe Boucher, I said it last season and I'll say it again, Phillipe Boucher is the Stars top defenseman, he was so last year and he's proving it again so far.

... and the BAM line (yes I know, stupid nicknames, Barnes, Arnott and Morrow)

Injuries: Jere Lehtinen (back spasms) is day to day and is doubtful for tonight.

ABOUT THE WILD -- The Wild saw its record go to 1-3-1-0 after a 2-2 tie in Minnesota against Vancouver Saturday night. The tie extended the Wild's winless streak to three games (0-2-1). Minnesota has scored two or fewer goals in four of its five games this season. "We've been making mistakes because we're trying to be fancy. I don't know why. Maybe it's because of the success we had last year," coach Jacques Lemaire said heading into Saturday's game with the Canucks. "But we won a lot of games by playing simple hockey. We've got to get back to that." The Wild continue to play without star forward Marian Gaborik, who is holding out in a contract dispute.

Injuries: LW Richard Park (knee) is day to day and will probably not dress for tonight.

Haven't payed attention enough to judge the Wild top players up untill now, but it looks like neither is really standing out from looking at the statsheets anyway.

Outlook: The Wild score a quick goal and lock the game as usual. The Stars dominate in terms of shots and put a lot of pressure on Manny Fernandez who will probably stand on his head like he always does vs Dallas. The Wild add another on a breakaway midway through the first, while Rob DiMaio prevents Fernandez from getting the shutout deep into the 3rd. 2-1 Wild., Zholtok scores the game winner.

Head to head matchup:

vs

Can Walz contain the current Stars most dominant player? Jason has followed a special diet (Atkins) during the off season and has a lot more lean muscle mass. He's looking totally different. But Arnott wouldn't be Arnott if he dissapears for some games, the Wild have a good system to do that, but I feel Walz will influence his game the most.

The West Coast Express is a good line name IMO.

Better than if they tried to call it the NMB line.

Before that the last good Line name was 'The Legion of Doom' that was Renberg, Lindros and someone else... Reichel maybe? Rechi? Leclair?

The Wild are a bit tamer now. When they had their playoff run they had the best PP in the league. Now they are back at the bottom and without Gaborik and Dupois I think they will have some problems scoring in PP. And with a team that isn't very deep in offensive talent it will cause all sorts of problems for them. 4-2 stars.

there was the crazy eights, with recchi/fedyk/lindros, then fedyk realized his potential and sucked again and the legion of doom with renberg/lindros/leclair.. when renberg had 80+ points.. that'll never happen again
