You're forgetting the reported Calgary offer.

as someone said above, I don't want to get Richards because we had the highest bid. If Calgary or Toronto want to offer the farm for him so be it. It might really be in the best interest of the rangers to pass if the bid becomes another contractual liability.

If we're not the highest bid, the longer it takes the better, imo. It means he's not sold on his highest offer.

LOL.

Calgary. I certainly didn't forget them, it's just the fact that it's freaking Calgary.

Anyway, he's not coming here. I just know it. Damn Sather and his newfound restraint!

I will admit, that this is the first time that I am admittedly nervous about the possibility of losing him.

I still think he will be ours but now with a tinge of doubt.

I'm not giving up hope just because we dont have the highest bid. I'm sure sather's offer is still pretty significant.

I never thought the Rangers would have the highest offer, still confident.

The thing that makes me nervous is that...well, look at that team in L.A. They look awfully good right now without Brad. With B. Richards...yikes. Pretty scary. Of course...I don't know what their cap situation is like. Gotta be tight no?

Good point. Hopefully the're referring to the Calgary offer as the one the Rangers' isn't close to.

Can't see him in Calgary for any price, personally.

I still think a team that no one is expecting made him an offer and we will all be surprised. Someone like Colorado.

This reminds me of the whole Cliff Lee thing where Philly wasn't even mentioned but yet there he is.

I'm going to go play some video games for a couple of hours, can't keep refreshing everything.

Uh oh you shouldn't have let doubt creep in another hour of this and you'll be pulling out your hair.

I have remained fairly unbiased throughout this whole thing starting at the trade deadline. I would have liked him then at the right price, but wasn't upset that Sather showed restraint. Same situation now. Worried about the team next year if we don't get some upgrades on the top line though.

Yeah. I mean, if I were in his spot I would just sign where I want to play the most. He's going to be beyond rich no matter what. I'd gladly sacrifice $10 million (or whatever) to play where I want to play if I were him. I wouldn't never let that percentage of my income dictate my decision.

I think the lightning saying the money was too much to overcome was taking in account that they have yet to sign Stamkos. Too much for them is not neccessarily too much for us

We've got, essentially, a win-win situation here:

1. Richards signs for a reasonable cap hit
2. Sather has found out that restraint exists
