Eastern European women are submissive. Kovy's wife was too busy making Borscht to have any say on his contract.

Kinda reminds us of just a year ago when ALL the rumor mills had Kovalchuk signing with the Kings. The lesson to that? Don't ****ing believe the rumor mills. It's all about hits for those ***clowns.

TSNBobMcKenzie I suspect NYR favorite to win out, but I would guess CGY is ahead of TOR or LA or other suitors at this point. Will find out soon enough.

Why would McKenzie say Calgary is ahead? Just because of the relationship with Feaster? Is Richards Gretzky? Does relationships mean that much to him? Makes no sense if he goes to Calgary, sounds like upselling, almost sounds like TSN media being in on it.

That's exactly it:

TSNBobMcKenzie CGY GM Jay Feaster's previous relationship with Brad Richards is a factor in Flames being in this to the point they are.

TSNBobMcKenzie Let's say CGY offers $64M for 9 years, or cap hit of about $7M. But if last 3 yrs are "bogus" it could end up being 6 yrs for about $60M.

I certainly believe that Calgary is serious with their offer. They have maybe one more shot and they are desperate to get a top center. I just don't think Richards believes that they are his best chance for another cup. It would be about the cash.

Richards isn't going to Calgary . . . no one is going to Calgary, that team is going to blow up (not in a good way) sooner than later . . .

Not once all day have any experts said we were the favorite. I fully expect him to sign somewhere else.

Toronto is not a serious option... not if he wants to win anytime within the next few years. That franchise has been nothing but an over-hyped joke for years.

The Rangers don't strike me as being one center away from contender either.

Richards won a Cup playing wing (in a warm-weather city).

All last summer they said we were the favorite for Kovy, how did that turn out? Now they barely mention us for Richards, that should tell you he is going to sign with us.

Just tuned in. Glad to see the Kings are going after B. Richards with everything they have. I don't think we'll come out on top for his services but if he'd rather go to Calgary over LA so be it.

Iginla and a bunch of scrubs in Calgary? But they do have Feaster running the show...

Rangers have former Richards teammates and friends, Fedotenko, Avery and coach Torts...

Kings have...well...a nice presentation.

Richards won a Cup playing LW (in a warm-weather city).
That's just it, Richards won a cup, he is also one of the highest paid hockey players in the league. No matter what happens in this next contract, he will have made over $300 million playing hockey. He has won before, and he has a ridiculous amount of money, and Dallas fans mention that he complained about the weather/environment he was living with in Dallas. I think it is entirely location based. LA is the best contender, Toronto is the best financial option, and the Rangers are seemingly his most preferred location. It all depends on Kobe Bryant and our presentation

It's kind of crazy that we've reached the point in DL's reign where we can actually say with a straight face, that if Richards wants to win a Cup, LA is his best destination of the suitors involved. That and the fact that we could in all likelihood, offer the best contract as well. Madness, I tell you.

LOL... I'm guessing Gretzky made more of an impression on him, but good on Kobe for doing that.

If I were Richards, being set for life financially already, I'd pick the team where I felt I had the best chance to win, regardless of travel, etc.

If winning is secondary to any other reason (wife's wishes, travel, etc.), then it could be any team.

Pretty sure at one point it was reported as a done deal for him to come to LA. So no, we were't barely mentioned last summer.

Hope this gets resolved tonight for Brads sake. Make his new teams fans very happy and not have to wait for a long time.

If he signs with TO, he is on a retirement contract with no real desire to win the cup because they are brutal. Leaves us with Gagne to pursue and a decent 3rd liner.

If he signs with NYR - we go after Dubie or Callahan, can't see how they would have enough money to spread around.

If he signs with Philly we could get Hartnell on the cheap. Would rather go after Gagne.

I am not even going to entertain Calgary. They are in worse trouble then Toronto. Unless they move J-Bo back to Florida for Weiss and have an instant 1-2 and a little more room. Fat would still have to be trimmed to make Richards work.

Personally I would give Gagne a fat 1 yr contract. He either proves he fits or he is off the books in time to line up for Semin, Parise, etc.

Seems like the Kings are out. Won't match Flames offer to come out West.
