Excited for 2011-12 (Next season discussion/lineups)

So the Habs were 1 goal from eliminating the future champs. Beaten really by an overtime goal that was blatantly offside.

This team during the playoffs were pretty darn good.

To that team, we will now add,

A. Markov (who at speed is 1 of the best in the league)
J. Gorges (Great stay at home, shot blocking and toughness)
A. Yemelin (touted this week by TT as a potential top 2 soon)

M.Pacioretty (Size, talent, hands and motivation)

and now, Erik Cole ( more size, talent and loves to hit)

There is no way Gomez has the same type of year as he did last year, he can only be better (right?)

So money aside, because honestly I don't care what they pay each player as long as they win, I am as excited for this season to start than I have been in a long time.

This team with Subban, Price and White getting more experience is getting closer and closer to being a contender!

I'd like to add a second pairing d-man, either during the summer or sometime during the season. Would make me a lot more comfortable. But the offense excites me.

I think there's a lot of room for internal improvement amongst our forwards. Cammalleri can play better, Gomez can play better. I think even Pleks can play better. Add Cole into the mix, give AKost/Eller/Desharnais some of the softer minutes... If that can improve our scoring from 22nd to top 15 and we remain as defensively disciplined, I think that will make a world of difference.

I love this team so far. Gorges and White will be easy signs. I still think we need a tough guy on that bottom line. But with Cole, a full year of Patches and DD, Markov and Gorges back healthy this team is shaping up very nicely. PG is infusing more talent across the board on this team which will lead to more goals. Very happy!

On paper the best forward group since Rejean Houle era.

Yemelin will be our stud this year. I spent some time talking to a guy who knows him well and figures by the half way mark (barring injuries) that he will be one of our best d. He is very motivated, already working his butt off and is looking forward to making a name for himself in the NHL. I think our top 4, as a unit, will be among the best in the league.

White and Gorges will be signed this week. I would love to see a Stewart or Konopka. Then I would be wishing it was October!!

I hope that's the case.

I've seen nothing of Yemelin outside a few WHC so he's just a complete unknown to me. I honestly don't even factor him into my evaluation of the team so if he does anything of note it'll be a positive for me.

as long as we add some bottom 6 grit I think we're in for a great season

would like to be able to dump spacek and add another proven top 4, but that can be done at the deadline. I'm especially excited to see the great Emelin we've been clamouring for all these years, hoping he grows into a solid top 4 D

We are still lacking high-end talent up front. The defensive corp has some question marks... but all-in-all, it's a pretty well constructued lineup... we shouldn't have problem making the playoffs, but we are still far from being a contender.

Not to pull out the clichés, but in today's NHL almost any team that can make the playoffs has a chance. Injuries to contenders, hot streaks, hot goalies... So many things can drastically change your post-season fortunes.

But I agree with you to an extent. If you were to make a list of the top contenders in the league, Montreal wouldn't be on it. But we do have a good group of hard working, character guys who I wouldn't count out of any series. The next step is to become a team that not only has a chance against any team, but would be favored against most.

As it stands right now it looks like a three team race for the divisional title. This lineup can match up with Boston's and Buffalo's next regular season if Markov is back to lead the team.

Genuinely excited for the first time in a while. Absolutely love the depth of our offense. If Markov and Subban stay healthy it should be scary.

That's how I look at it too.

But by all accounts Yemelin is ready to contribute in a meaningful way. Hopefully that's correct.

Which 2010-2011 playoff team will regress next year?

A lot of Eastern team have better team now than last year!!

It will be hard for the Habs to get into playoff if Markov fall down again

Your second D pairing is in reality a third one.. Your third pairing looks more like an AHL one than a NHL one.. I think you can do better..

Finally we get a new player in our team that is not 5' 6". Change is a good thing.

Don;t get too excited, taking Boston to 7 games means absolutely nothing, some teams just match up better with others and next year is a whole new ballgame. I see us battling for 6-9 spot again unless we make other moves. To expect all our players to improve on last year is ludicrous, does not happen, some will have better years, some worse. Plus other teams are also improving, we have not improved significantly unless some players have career years.

2011-2012 Lineup

So what do you guys think it will look like? Seems most of the shopping is done so.

Cammalleri-Plekanec-Cole
Gionta-Gomez-Pacioretty
Desharnais-Eller-Kostitsyn
Darche-White-Moen

Markov-Gorges
Subban-Gill
Yemelin-Spacek

Price
Budaj

I'd like someone else to center the 4th line. Even Travisse Moyen, I'm not his biggest fan but I'm happy that if everyone is healthy, he won't play Top 6 minutes. He'll be fine with these types of minutes.

agree with everything but this. Gomez will have 13 goals, 21 assists, 34 points.

Blatantly Offside? Are you inferring that the Bruins didn't earn the win?
