No decision til tomorrow could be good news for us. I'm content with or without him going in to this season, though my desire to see Rangers fans rage has had me refreshing like 6 threads for the past 4 hours or so.

Sleep on it, Brad. Dream of the Richards, Richards, Richardson line.

The initial offer was genuine, but by now Dean knows there is no way they can sign him. He knows other teams are offering considerably more. However he is not going to say anything until it's over.

Kovalchuk played the same game. Lombardi was pissed enough that after he has seen that Kovalchuk was just milking the Devils, he announced that Kings are not contenders anymore. If I remember correctly Kovalchuk and his agent immediately sent some positive signals to keep Kings in the game. Remember those positive tweets and short paragraphs on major sites after Kings already announced they don't have a chance? Some of them even said "Kings and Kovalchuk are very close."

Kovalchuk took this game to the next level, because he is super greedy and there were only two teams seriously interested. Richards will do it much quicker because with 5 teams there is higher chance for one of the teams to raise offer.

Ditto.

Won't lose any sleep watching Calgary deal with a 38 year old with a $7M cap hit.

its good news that it will stretch to tomorrow, since it was expected he would just sign with Rangers at the end of the day, he must seriously like other offers to stretch to Saturday

TSNBobMcKenzie Bob McKenzie
CGY, LA and TOR also receiving consideration. Hearing CGY deal is 9 yrs, $64M. If last 3 years are "bogus" could really be 6 yr, $60+M deal.

TSNBobMcKenzie Bob McKenzie
LAK offer likely comparable money. TOR, tho, may not be in position to do that type of deal. Leaf GM Burke on record as opposed to them.

Dream of Kobe!

Or McKenzie for that matter.

EDIT: I still expect him to end up with NYR.

I personally have a bad feeling he won't sign with LA, I just hope he doesn't sign in Calgary.

Honestly, who cares if he signs in Calgary? If he is the type of guy who signs in Calgary with their current roster and prospects, I wouldn't want him on this team anyways. That team is going nowhere

BB back up. Richards tells me he's down to 3-4 teams. Solid ownership and chance to win are key. Will decide tomorrow. 1on1 coming up on SC

I'm starting to feel like all i do it quote twitter...but if this is true...

We have to be frontrunners with the NYRs...

I've always believed that he wouldn't sign in LA.

An interesting dynamic I just noticed though is that LA is the only team that is good at center going after him, hell we are the only team with any #1 center going after him and each of the other three teams just have one big name winger to lure him with, but for LA, he is likely the winger. Toronto has Kessel, Rangers have Gaborik, Calgary has Iginla, and we are telling him come to LA and don't worry about being #1 or playing with a star winger. Interesting dynamic, good or bad.

I agree. I just don't wish him to sign for one of the strongest teams in the league.

I'd love it if that were true, and not saying that it isn't, just that it's exactly what he would probably be told to say. "Money and lack off pressure" just doesn't sound good

it would also be entertaining to see NY and Toronto fans crying the following months.

When I say personally, I live in Calgary and ALL my friends are flames fans so I just don't want to deal with them

We're also the only team going after him that's any good. That should count for something.
