I think he has the Cy Young given to him. He's definitely the best this year.

Would take a Phillie starter over him if you're talking Cy Young

He's a damn good pitcher. We should be able to agree on that much.

Who was the last pitcher to be MVP? A pitcher would have to win at least 25 games in order to even get serious consideration for it.

^Exactly.

We can all agree he's right at the top of the NL Cy Young discussion, but MVP? He'll need a stellar 2nd half, and even then it's doubtful.

Man, the Bravees are gonna have back to back MVP winners one their team seeing as Heyward won it last year. Heyward was so great he won MVP and Rookie of the Year in his first year. AMIRITE? Now Jurrjens is gonna be Cy Young and MVP!

They don't award the CY until November. I remember Greg Maddux went 15-3 before the AS break in 1988 I think. He only won 3 more games that year. Part of this was due to the fact that the manager did not adhere to pitch counts. Maddux threw 167 pitches in one game. In short, its early.

He'd be the fourth starter on the Phillies.

Jurrjens is having just as good if not a better season than all 3 Phillies pitchers.

He has more wins and at least .5 run better ERA them all of them.

Ya'll are saying its early but then turn around and hand it to a Phillie pitcher.

As for Jurrjens for MVP, him or any pitcher for that matter would have to have one of the greatest seasons in MLB history to even be considered.

those are the only stats that he has them beat in, every other stat goes to the triumvirate.

bahahaha, keep on trolling it up. Felix Hernandez had 12 wins last year and the mlb network campaigned him to win over Sabathia and Price. And according to ESPN Cy Young indicators Jurrjens is 3rd behind Brian Wilson and Halladay.

I'm as old fashioned as anyone but I know wins are a team stat and are a silly way to assess pitchers. Anyone using wins to defend a pitcher should go to jail

Yup, tough to be MVP when you play every 5 games. You only play 20 percent of games

Well MLB is big on strikeout numbers and CG/IP. Jurrjens will get hurt in strikeouts so his numbers will have to be quite a bit better, due to the lack of strikeouts. Right now him and Halladay have the exact same win-loss record. Jurrjens the better ERA, Halladay far more k's. 6 CG's, too. Not sure how many Jurrjens has but I doubt his IP or CG touch Halladay.. Halladay beats just about everybody every year in that category.

180-89 in his career now. How many SP have had a 2:1 win-loss ratio after that many starts? I know Lester has one but he has pitched far less obviously.

Tim Hudson actually isn't too far off with 171-93.

Always interesting to look at stuff like that. I don't feel like narrowing it down to see where everyone stood after that many starts, but the win-loss % leader-board is always fun to look at.

Some pretty ridiculous names high up on that list.

You are one of the worst trolls I've ever seen on the Internet.

Anyway, the big 3 for the Phillies have pitched much better than Jurrjens. ERA and Wins are team stats, not pitcher stats. Jurrjens arguably hasn't even been the most dominant pitcher on his own team.

Or one of the biggest homers. He stated that Heyward last year would get 50 HR and over 150 RBIs.
