I'm sure it'd be a pleasure for Agnew to get the Aeros job.

Ducks center Todd Marchant, who spent 18 seasons in the National Hockey League and won a Stanley Cup with the club in 2007, is announcing his retirment Wednesday.

That's an era of Jackets hockey that we'd all like to forget. He should have been on his knees in front of Doug MacLean (wink, wink) every day that he was here for that obscene contract.

And yet I liked him and didn't blame him for the contract. It wasn't his fault. Much like it wasn't Commie's fault Howson through all that money at him.

Have a great retirement Todd. Too bad your stay here didn't work out as hoped.

Todd was the heart and soul of the Ducks locker room during the Cup run including designing the somewhat cheesy t-shirt. Worked his way back from injury just to be in the playoffs. One of the most energetic PK players I've ever seen. Doug MacLean oversold him as a first line center (not unlike Gilbert Brule).

Hopefully this doesn't mean his son, Timmy, is done being a locker room reporter. Funny kid.

Dougie moved him for being the union rep for the Blue Jackets. How petty.

Criminy, now Montador of all people has had his rights traded. To Chicago.

At this rate, maybe we should seriously consider trading Hejda's rights if we're really that far apart.

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!

This is from Bob Mckenzie:

NHL files grievance against Nashville Predators over improper filing of qualifying offers.

So what does this mean?

Surprisingly little. The biggest name on the list of folks they missed on is Sergei Kostitsyn. The rest are guys who are unlikely to go anywhere - O'Reilly, Halischuk, Spaling, et cetera.

The Preds won't have as much fiscal flexibility this offseason as fans had hoped, but since when do they ever?

Damned if I was going to look back in the thread. Surprised this place hasn't collapsed today. But I guess this answers the question about bringing him back, huh?

So old it was in the old thread.

Bob's messed up because he got so worked up with excitement about Ehrhoff and then he signed in B-lo and whoa he's confused...

Anyone else see the Torres to Phoenix signing and think, if the guy would have re-upped in Columbus, he would be ahead of the game. He was offered similar or just less than his previous contract of 2.25 a year, alledgedly.

Getting to game 7 of the SCF, is worth the risk of losing out on a million or 1.25 million, but he lucked into getting signed by the Nucks mid to late summer last year. I know this revisionism is just that.

Maybe he just wanted out of Columbus.
