And just like that the Rangers are amongst the winners. Like I said on the other thread, just pretend Rangers are Habs. And let's pretend we move Gomez. You end up with the addition of Rupp and Richards.

That is totally different from saying

"Gauthier has no plan"
"Gauthier is incompetant"
"Molsons are cheap"
"molsons won't spend to the cap"
"Gauthier is happy with status quo"
You missed he best one:

"Molsons don't care about winning"

That's right, some people believe the Molsons don't actually care about winning games.

Now that the dust has settled...

Who do you think made their team better the best?
Philly? Florida? NYR? Buffalo?? LA? CLB?

Personally, I really like what Washington has done. Adding depth guys like Ward and Halpern was good, even if one was overpaid. Hammer's a great add for them, picking him over Hannan was definitely a good move.
They only have 1.5M left and need to sign a back up and sign Brouwer, so they might be forced to make a move. I guess we'll see, but I really like what they've done.

EDIT: Wow, completely missed this thread. My bad.

Even after moving Gomez, I seriously doubt Montreal ends up with Richards. Seems like Richards left money on the table to go to New York.

Just a couple of comments:

I have a hard time with the notion of the Panthers being winners. Sure, they've improved, and they've added some decent assets. But these are longer-term deals for players that aren't core and are barely solid complementary players. Many of them have injury issues. There are better ways of spending cap dollars, and these deals may handcuff them moving forward.

On Chicago: I like a lot of what they've done. Mayers, O'Donnell, Montador, and Brunette are all quality vets. I think they're all great fits and will be very solid there. However, I have real problems with the Montador cap hit. He's never been a top-4 outside of some time in Buffalo recently (and that was on a depleted, young blueline). $2.75m is a lot for a player like Montador. On the whole, though, they properly identified role players who can add an awful lot to their club.

On Philly: I find the Talbot deal (in terms of length, and even term) perplexing. The Jagr deal is nice. I think Jagr can fit well in Philly; he tends to do well when playing with younger talent, of which Philly has an abundance of. Lilja is fine.

I have to plug in the Capitals as winners solely for the Varlamov move. That's a crazy return. I'm not certain I like the Hamrlik signing: he tends to slow the pace of the game, while their team needs fast-pace transition. On the other hand, he's a stabiliser, and Washington could also use that. So it's not awful. I have real problems with the Joel Ward signing, though. Halpern, Brouwer are nice additions. All in all, good day for them.

I think the Leino signing is tough to swallow for Buffalo too.
