Does Babchuk play the left or right side?

And didn't strickland say something in his first tweet that the Rangers signed Richards that they were going to announce the re-signing of Anisimov shortly after?

Yes!!!!!! I don't love the years but the cap hit is wonderful. Considering the terrible deals handed out this off season Sather did a great job!

So is it 9Y 58.5 or 9Y 57M? Not a huge difference...but that's 6.5 vs. 6.33 cap hit.

Still waiting word on the length of any NMC.

As i said i like the contract in terms of cap hit etc, im not going to say i love it as i havent watched him enough, but i am concerned by looking at his stats. Not about the points but if u look a little right you see hes been quite a high minus player for most of his years in then NHL. Dont tell me its a meaningless stats because star players like Jagr dont or most for that matter are not minus 15 after a season when there supposed to be out scoring the opponents when there on the ice. Im wandering if someone can give me a reasonable explanation as to why he so often caught on the minus side even on somewhat good teams that would be good?

Yeah, not sure how you can use concussions as a criticism here. If he gets another bad one that forces him to retire then he's off the cap. What else were the Rangers going to do, trade for another elite center? Who's available?

Let me put in plain English how important this signing is: Did you watch any games this past season? Particularly our playoff round against Was? Do you recall all those games that we lost by one goal or in OT due to a lack of scoring depth?

We were always one-goal away from winning games, especially in the playoffs. Richards has consistently put up points in this league and his addition will force teams to have to re-consider their strategy of sending the house at Gabby and shutting him down, and subsequently, our goal scoring capabilities.

Opposition must now respect BR's on-ice presence and playmaking ability. This move will take a ton of pressure off our role players who are not top line players (EC, Dubi, Prospal, etc.).

Babchuk plays the right side. Right-handed shot. Absolute cannon from the point.

finally we get a top flight player taking less to play here. Granted, he is still getting top notch mney, but he could have gone somewhere else for more $$

Very nice job by Sather to get his man, to deepen the Rangers already burgeoning center-ice corps with a true #1, and to get Gabby a set-up man. All that and it's not a crippling cap number either. Props to your GM.

Just wanted to give some very necessary props to this poster:

Someone I trust. But not someone directly involved in the negotiation. It's a legal aid to the agent in question, who should absolutely know the details, though, and someone who is a close friend.

According to them, it is really down to two teams. One offer, from the Rangers, is around 8 years and $6M per, however, this cap hit might rise as high as $7M.

The other offer is in the 3 years and $7.5-7.75M per season range. This offer, which is Toronto, would have to be extended to five years to sway the agent away from the retirement contract that NYR is offering.

I believe 8x6 is the deal that will go down, though. Maybe just slightly higher cap hit.

Grain of salt, though.

He posted last night about it here but noone said much of anything and feel he deserves some major props here. Well done Hackm, my friend

this is the first signing in awhile that i can remember a player taking less money to play in nyc...I would like to see how MZA might play alongside him and gabby. I think wolski will get bought out or traded and ec same, not sure if they will wait until training camp to do it though to see how everyone meshes and what chemistry there is between players

Well, this should help us compete. If we can keep the same energy that we had all last year...we might be able to win a round or two in the postseason.

Just need to make sure everyone we need is back with the squad.

You need a big body on the LW, someone who will grind in the corners, do the dirty work and not be a liability defensively. That's not Wolski or MZA. It's either going to be Dubinsky, perhaps even Fedotenko, or someone that we acquire via trade.

Richards and a healthy Callahan would have made the first round matchup against the Caps a lot more interesting...that's for sure. Add to that the development of Stepan and Anisimov, McDonagh and Sauer and we're looking like a legitimate playoff team now more than ever. Not saying we're winning the conference...but barring the injury bug there's no reason we can't finish in the top 5.

That would improve the PP even more with him and the Richards signing. Play him on the third pair with Erixon.

Now could a Babchuk signing mean that the Rangers may include MDZ in a trade for a top 6 winger?

Staal - Girardi
McD - Sauer
Erixon - Babchuk
V-Tank/Kundertek

Heh. Suddenly a few Sabre fans must know what it's like to get railed at like most Ranger fans do -- the "you're breaking the rules, signing UFA's, how dare you!" stuff is amusing. At least for now. I'm sure you guys are plenty callused up about it.

Probably the nicest thing out of this is that there is still $16M in the current cap to fit in the RFA's. Stellar goaltending, rising defensive stud, solid character forwards who can play and now a #1 center to go with the dynamic goal scorer? Your team is dangerous. Good luck going forward!
