Simmering ruins eh? Guess your season is over before it even started. Well you can always watch football or basketball this winter........oops

When did Anton Babchuck all of a sudden become the this sought after defenseman? He's mediocre.

Well, the Flyers did go from the Atlantic Division champs in 2010-11 to the fourth-best team in the division heading into 11-12 at this point. Here's to hoping the Flyers make another move, otherwise you won't get your playoff goals.

The season's not over but, with this team, it will end in April. Pittsburgh, New Jersey, NYR, Boston, Buffalo, Washington and Tampa Bay are legit playoff teams. That leaves one spot for the Flyers to battle with teams playing in softer divisions. Any one of those squads string together a win streak or two, and the Flyers could be done in time for the opener at CBP.

They've been replaced with the ultimate equalizer in Bryzgalov.

It was obviously their fault that the team didn't have decent goaltending. Thats why they had to go. Duh.

You are kidding right? We have 2 scoring lines, a good bottom six with the best prospect in the world (that is a two-way player, arguably the best defensive core in the league, a top 10 GOALTENDER (which is very important), AND cap space to sign another player (not including simmons)....

You're just *****ing because you feel uncomfortable because there are big changes to this team. We didnt do that great with Richards and Carter...lets see what this te can do before we quit. I'm excited to see what this team can do.

JVR, Voracek, Simmons, Schenn, couls all have breakout years. I think we match up well against almost any team in the league. We are still a playoff team and if our offense exceeds our expectations we are a true cup contender

Everybody thinks this team can't make it without Carter and Richards, Carter barely even played last 2 years in playoffs and defintley didn't contribute. This team was a joke when they played the Bruins, Goaltending got better and this team will still have 6 or 7 20 goal scorers. Giroux, Briere,Jvr,Hartnell will have over 20 and Voracek, Jagr,Simmonds, Schenn are wild cards but you can bet a couple will hit 20 like ever who plays on Girouxs line. With the money left another decent forward will come in.

Homer will not sign the Anton. The Anton will sign the Flyers, thus sparing us from misery.

I really don't understand why fans act like we had some Oilers'esque dynasty with 17 and 18. The team was a 6, 5, 7, and 2 seed the past four years that they made the playoffs. That's hardly anything to write home about.

They were smoked by Pittsburgh back to back years (with 17 and 18 doing very little), then lucked out into favorable matchups throughout the 2010 postseason (avoiding Washington and Pittsburgh) and got to the Finals. Then, after a strong first half, the team, under the leadership of Richards, tanked and got embarassed in the playoffs (in which both Carter and Richards were nowhere to be found).

Seriously, people act as though we lost Gretzky and Messier this offseason. Neither Richards or Carter deserve the cred they get.

On paper we are now a worse team.

I haven't seen anyone say the Flyers are awful (maybe I haven't looked for it.) It just hurts losing two of your best players, one who was an absolute fan favorite and captain. People will deal with it as they choose.

Spot on.

This team was complacent as **** last year, Richards & Carter included.

This is the shake-up we needed, and just give it time guys. This team added some real interesting pieces, and you can't tell me you haven't been excited with this off-season.

Give it time

It didn't win it all with the immortal Richards & Carter either...

You must've seen there were obvious problems last season. Behind the scenes stuff. The moves were obvioulsy made to rectify that.

And to satisfy Snider & 95% of the Flyers fanbase desires for a #1 goalie of course

I wonder if the fact that a quarter of the team needed freaking surgery had anything to do with it?

It is "smoking ruins" or "smoldering ruins" not "simmering ruins."

Or Perhaps

This team was injury plagued(Richards&Carter included) and running on fumes after a long playoff run in the summer of 2010. Cartsy + Richy gave it their all every night despite being injured much of the year.

Crippling injuries to Pronger,Carter,Richards,Leino,LaPierre .

Terrible goaltending down the stretch.

Add in douch deluxe /goon Pronger wreaking havoc within the locker room.

If anything they should have sent the viral influence of Pronger out of town , instead of 2 of the better players in the NHL in Cartsy + Richy.

This team needed a tune-up not a dismantling.
