some seem to think we are going after Yandle. Based on him saying he doesnt want a long term deal with Phoenix. I would be all for this so long as the price is right.
Coburn and Carle are UFAs after next year. Some suggest next season could be Timonens last year in Philadelphia.

After what players were signed for yesterday, and the fact that they expect Dubi to be the long term captain of the franchise, I see them both going for $5m+. Maybe $5.5m to Dubi long term, and $5m to Callahan for a couple seasons.

Boyle might slip away, because he's due for a fairly impressive raise himself. I wouldn't mind adding him...I'd finally shut up about signing size and grit

Also, Gilroy signed with TB, so their choices for NHL caliber defensemen are dwindling.

The latest and greatest from Baicker about all the moves and what could be next

Multiple sources have suggested the Flyers are still seeking to fill out their offense, as well, but as the hours tick by, the list of available free agents further shrinks. Brad Richards, whom Holmgren suggested the Flyers had interest in as recently as Friday evening, signed with the Rangers early Saturday.

But there are still some names floating around that may have piqued the Flyers’ interest.

For one, Simon Gagne is still on the market. Gagne, the former Flyer who struggled with injuries last season as a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning, made $5.25 million and registered 17 goals and 23 assists in 63 games with the Bolts. If the Flyers still seek to fill out the roster with veteran “character guys,” Gagne is certainly an option.

“I talked to (Gagne’s agent) Bob Sauve a couple times,” Holmgren said. “I think he’s still in the feeling-out process. There’s probably interest from both sides. We’ll see how it goes. I’m not sure what level he’ll be at, but he’s certainly a guy we’re willing to talk about.”

There are other names, but as things stand, available cap space is limited. As of now, with Simmonds still unsigned, there’s about $3.27 million remaining under the cap ceiling. If Gagne were to return to Philly, the Flyers would have to move some salary, or Gagne would have to agree to a sizable pay cut. That goes for signing most of the other big-name players out there, as well.

There are other possibilities, of course, should the Flyers choose to make another move in free agency. And from the sound of it – and the hours long after the Jaromir Jagr and Max Talbot deals were signed that Holmgren continued to camp out in his office in Voorhees – there very well be more to come.

You know those 2nd rd picks are burning a hole in Homer's pocket. They just extended Coburn 2 yrs at 4M so maybe they can move Carle and add Yandle through a trade or offer sheet.
Boyle would be a solid pick up depending on the $$.

5 million + for two fifty point forwards is too much. Even if they do bring other things to the table. They're not even as offensively skilled as an average fifty point forward either, and they were both minus players last year. They were some of their teams primary offensive weapons, and got the opportunities that come with that, and mustered 50 points. That's a respectable effort and they're good players, but when you sign those two guys to 5 million dollar contracts you're essentially asking them to be something they're not, and something more than they are. They good second liners, maybe 4.25 million dollar guys....that's it though.

There's a bit more wiggle room then that, subtract Lappy's salary and hopefully Shelley will be buried to make room for someone cheaper to bring up.

Maybe Holmgren trades for Richards?

At this point, it would surprise me, yeah, but it wouldn't shock me. That ship sailed yesterday.

Oh I agree with you, but with the higher cap ceiling/floor and all the ridiculous overpayments from yesterday, I really have no idea what to expect at this point...

He also said the Flyers had 'a major move' coming....yea, still waiting on that one.

When will people learn to not trust Eklund?

Not to give Eklund too much credit, but he's not bad when it comes to the Flyers. He can call moves on Philly, it seems like the only team he has some insides on.

People need to learn the difference between a "rumor" and a "fact".

Connolly signs 2yrs @ 4.75 per. That probably set the bar for Gagne.
Even if the Flyers get a discount for him to come home he is probably looking for 2-3 yrs @ 4M.
Maybe the Flyers can offer him 4 yrs @ 12M total front loaded (5 - 4 - 2 - 1).

That article doesn't make it sound to me like Homer is getting all aggressive with Gagne. "A guy we are willing to talk about" Maybe just posturing I guess.
