Vokoun's next contract

It is possible that Phoenix signs him. How much would a team in need of a starting goalie pay for him?

Seems like the Yotes are going with Smith, kinda surprised. Labarbera is the backup

Vokun seems screwed. He may have to take a one yr deal. TO?

I think the Caps are going with Neuvirth and Holtby.

Dont see anyother holes

If the Caps trade Semin, I wouldn't be surprised if they gave him a 1-2 year contract in the $4.5-5.5 area.

Why did Panthers decide not to bring him back? (I assume they did). He would make them playoff team right now.

They worked till 12pm to try to. Best guess Tomas wanted 3yrs and Tallon only 2, range of 2.5-4 per year.

Im sure Vokoun is not happy this morning. He loves south florida.

He wouldn't take a hometown discount according to the Herald beat writer. They tried working out a deal right up to the start of FA, but when Vokoun wanted to test his value Tallon signed JT right away.

The 'Yotes are still talking to Vokoun. Not sure how likely it is that we get him, but they are still trying.

To those saying Washington will get him: The GM already said they are done with FA and are looking to make trades now, no?

Yes. And again they love their young goalies (with their super-low cap hits). Vokoun would only make sense if they had a bunch of cap space, which they don't. If they created any somehow (Semin), they'd need another forward and/or a #6D before a goalie.

Whaaa? NJ and Phx say hi! There are at least 4 teams without a solid starter or with one who leaves a lot to be desired.

Unless Hiller isn't healthy (won't know for sure till august) there is no way the ducks go after Vokoun. We already have a all-star goalie, and a backup making 1.5.

Brodeur can maybe play like 1 more season. C'mon, you can't play net from a wheelchair

Thats exactly the point

Vokoun didnt make Florida a playoff team in the last 4 years

So now that they have a (more competent?) new GM, they decided to change the recipe and invest his big money elsewhere.

I predict Florida will be a more successful team now they have Theodore at 1.500.000$ + 4.200.000 invested elsewhere. Than having Vokoun at 5 700 000$

Pavelec is a solid starter and Mason is pretty much a 1B type goalie. Jets make up their missing cap space on RFAs alone.

NJ going for Vokoun would be odd. Brodeur is there this year, and they'll be looking for someone younger to lead them over 10 years rather than a 2-3 year stopgap solution.

Dallas has Lehtonen who's a solid starter if he can stay healthy. They won't be adding $5M to their payroll either.

Anaheim has great goaltending. San Jose doesn't have the cap space and is happy with their goaltending.

Edmonton makes sense to me, since Khabibulin seems to have lost it. They already seem to have their future goalie, so a stopgap solution helps everyone develop.

Detroit is in win now mode, with a weak goalie and nowhere else to blow their money. I could see a big 1 year contract from them for sure.

Columbus makes sense to me too. Florida would benefit the most.

hmmmmm Vokun and Smith would be a good combo but they did just sign Labarbara. Unless they move him to say Detroit or TO who need back ups it seems
