What would Iginla Cost?

I think this would be awesome and Calgary is in transition/rebuild
I think it would take Boyle, Stephan or Christensen and Mcdonagh or Sauer to get this done.

More than you'd be willing to offer.

Also, Christensen has no value.

The best player in that deal is Stepan, who was just a rookie. Calgary would want a better centerpiece in that kind of deal.

Too much for his cap hit. We'd also need a LW...not all wingers are interchangable. Let's not get too greedy and blow up our cap either.

Boyle, Kreider or Boyle MDZ with another prospect or pick or something like that.

Sell high on Boyle, put youll have to part with a big prospect because the Flames will want to get some youth back in return.

Buy out Wolski, sign the RFAs and you should be able to fit in his 7 for 2 or 3 years whatever he has left.

Talk about a dynamic line: Iginla-Richards-Gabby

Power,Playmaking and Sniping

Not trading McDonagh and Stepan for a 34 year old, as good as that 34 year old is.

It's Stepan* and please tell me we are not trading one of our promising young players for a 34 year old vet.

I would want no part of trading Stepan straight up for Iginla.

Calgary makes a $65 million offer to Richards, what makes you think they want to sell pieces off now?

I'd love Iginla, my 2nd fave player after Jagr. I have no clue on what to offer however.

They'd probably take prospects/picks if they've decided to commit to a rebuild (not sure that they have). I'd think he might be available late next year rather than now.

Do you really think that Calgary will do anything to help the Rangers any time in the near future? First their best prospect forces them to trade him to us. Then, they make their big play for an UFA and get scooped by us, despite offering more money.

I understand that to do your job right as a GM you need to be rational and pragmatic about these things, but I just don't see the two teams collaborating again until training camp at the earliest.

Absolutely not. If we are going for a top line winger then it better not be iginla.

I think Slats should focus on sideway deals, to round out the team.

For example, we have like 7 2-way/defensiveminded Ds -- but only MDZ who has any real offense in him.

We should keep assets and cap room to bite if a PPQB becomes available.

If, and mind you, IF we look really good come deadline. Sure deal picks/prospects for a Iginla. No need to make that move now...

As fun as it would be to see Iginla play with Richards and Gabby, the truth is that as someone else mentioned... not all wingers are interchangeable, and depth would suffer too much for it to be worth it, imo.

I like that we can see Dubi-BR-Gabby, and still have some good scoring depth to play around with.
