Booth would be perfect.
Booth is probably one of the realistic names being thrown around this thread.

With that said Sather said he would fill the top line LW spot from within so I don't expect us to get anyone else.

Wolski working harder and showing some dedication?

I'd be willing to bet that Wolski is our 1LW or 2LW to start the year. As far as I'm concerned, it's almost guaranteed.

And the Panthers are NOT trading Booth. They're still about $1m under the cap floor and they're not going to move a guy making over $4m.

Samsonov would not be a good fit here.

Torts is going to want some size, skill, and "jam" from who ever it is.

Samsonov doesn't put up enough numbers to be a legitimate 2nd liner, much less a 1st...

We will see. They traded Frolik and Horton.

Its been reported Booth may be moved.

Wolski isn't guarantees anything. Again, he was used on the third line and was benched at times. Tortorella is suddenly going to give him top line minutes? Doubtful Wolski's whole mentality and consistency change that dramatically.

The Panthers traded Frolik and Horton before they were in this ridiculous cap floor situation. If Horton was still on the team this offseason, he wouldn't be traded. Some of that was Tallon moving the guys he didn't really want on his new team too. If he wanted to move Booth because he didn't fit Tallon's vision and plan, it would've been done already.

Wolski isn't guaranteed anything from Tortorella and that's not even close to what I meant. I mean I'm the one guaranteeing that he'll get that shot at the start of the year. It doesn't seem to me like Tortorella feels like he's gotten a good enough look at Wolski yet, but also that Wojtek was told in his exit interviews that he better do some things in the offseason and come to camp roaring for a job. If his enrollment with Underhill is any indication of an adjusted attitude, which I think it is, he will impress in camp.

Just because Booth hasn't been traded yet, doesn't mean he wont be.

They would have to take on salary. And your boy Wolski would probably be in the deal to even out the salaries.

Yay hyperbole! I was wondering when that would come out.

Look, the Panthers trading Booth just doesn't pass the logic test IMO. Let's leave it at that.

Would be surprised if they don't add one or two pieces from now until October. But after reading some of the quotes from the day I think Sather will save some cap so he's in position to take someone come trade deadline day.

LOL your accusing me of hyperbole, and in the same breathe "guarantee" Wolski will be our top line LW. Despite the fact he was a THIRD LINE PLAYER last season and was benched quite often.

And saying Booth may be traded AS HAS BEEN REPORTED, is hyperbole?

Ok, keep fooling yourself.

Talk about logic, Wolski is NOT a top line player.

No way we roll into October with Hagelin in the top six.

They need a legitimate #1 or #2 LW.

Dubi - Brad - Gabby.
Dubi balances out the line with some grit.

Wolski - AA - Cally.
Wolski has been here for half a season, had some flahses. Let's see him go through a full training camp before we throw him under the bus.

Rupp - Stepan - Zucco.
Intriguing line, Rupp balances out the line with size and snarl. Can help with FO's.

Feds/Hagelin - Boyle - Prust.

Let's see him go through a full training camp before we assume he can handle top six minutes.

Thus far he hasn't been able to.

Me guaranteeing Wolski is a top-line center isn't hyperbole... it's my opinion and my prediction. He's not my "boy"... that's what I mean by hyperbole. I don't even like him that much. I just think it's the way it's setting up. And logically, Wolski is skilled enough to play on the top line and has put up stats to back it up. Generally speaking, I would say he's a 40-60 point guy (which he's done EVERY season except for last). The bottom end of that spectrum would make him among the top 40 scoring left wings in the NHL. The top of that spectrum would put him in the top 15 scoring left wings in the NHL. I would say that makes him capable of playing on the first line of this team. It certainly makes him capable of playing on the second line. I'm not saying that he's an elite player, but that's not what we need here.

Also, Booth's name has never been mentioned by anyone I would take seriously that I can remember.

Logic would say Wolski's skill is top six. Unfortunately games aren't played on paper, and the reason Wolski has been traded so often and benched so often is because he is not a top six player.

Its an unfortunate case of the player's mentality holding him back.

I sincerely hope he turns it around because he could be a huge asset to this team.

But, I don't have that faith in him...not right now.

And the way Tortorella is, if a player doesn't bring it every shift, they don't play.

Wolski has top 6 skills. He just needs the consistency. He is training with Underhill. This is his contract year and he is 25 years old. He will be very motivated to produce. And he will.

You guys buy into Wolski reclaiming his "career as if he ever had one and believe in him more than Glen does.

If he ends up in a John Tortarella top 6 for most of the season, I will gladly eat crow.

I think Propsal back on the cheap would be a really good fit.

Or, if Slats wanted to get really creative, sign Sergei Kostitsyn (NSH) to an offer sheet or trade for him. Seen him play here in Mtl for years, he can be magic when he wants to. Kind of a Kovalev-esque enigma.

Per the Tennessean:

On Thursday, the NHLPA filed a grievance, saying the Predators did not properly qualify their RFA's, claiming the team's qualifying offers came too late. The Predators have contended that they were sent out on time. If it's determined that the Predators did not qualify their restricted free agents in a timely manner, this means Kostitsyn can become a UFA. The case will be heard by an arbitrator with a decision expected to be reached in a timely manner. The situation also affects other Predators RFA's including including Nick Spaling, Matt Halischuk, Chris Mueller, Andreas Thuresson, Linus Klasen and Cal O'Reilly. We expect the majority of these players to remain with the Preds next season, but this latest development surely adds a new wrinkle to getting them re-signed.
(Updated 07/01/2011).

I'd rather keep Boyle than trade for Booth WITH MZA and Wolski. I don't know why everyone's so fixated on Booth when we could have Gagne for free. Essentially the same player, both one hit away from their careers ending, may as well not give up assets for it.

Doubt it would happen but I want Loui Eriksson to be the 1st line LW. Dude is very underrated.

Agreed. And should Prospal get hurt seriously again, we can either experiment with MZA or Boyle at LW or make some sort of trade. Nothing says we need to go into the year knowing who the one player missing from our top 6 will be at the end.
