all this talk about physicality, I think the Kings are 1 of the toughest in the league, if not the. Brown, Richards and Greene love to throw lots of hits. Doughty and JJ have shown they wont shy from a big hit, Stoll has shown he has no problem boarding Chris *** Pronger. Richardson, Clifford, Westgarth all get stuck in there. We are a tough sonofa***** team.

You won't get any arguments from me. If this team doesn't come out of the gate fast and stay in the top 4, Murray could be on the hot seat by Christmas.

Murray has zero excuses left. The top six is set, the top four is strong and one of the best goalie tandems in the NHL.

Conference final should be the minimum for this team.

Three OT losses to SJ with Handzus as the #1 center gives me confidence for next season.

Kings were easy to match up against last season. If healthy, I don't see any matchup problems for the Kings. It will come down to goaltending and defense and I like the Kings chances.

Kings must win the pacific for the best shot.

Kings did lose some size in Poni, Handzus and Simmonds....essentially we replaced them with Richards, Gagne and Parse.

I would think Westgarth plays almost every game or Dwight King or Rich Clune makes it a spare or rotating forward to give the 4th line some more punch if it's gonna be Parse, Lewis, etc...

Kings have 13 forwards, with Fraser and his injury, so def a kid from Manchester will get a shot.

Nolan, Clune or King (even though he showed no physical attributes aside from being big when he was up here) have to get a spot on the 4th line unless there's a vet that Lombardi can sign to bring in some toughness.

Penner-Kopitar-Williams
Gagne-Richards-Brown
Clifford-Stoll-Richardson
Parse-Lewis-Westgarth
Clune/Nolan/King

Doughty-Mitchell
Scuderi-Johnson
Greene-Martinez
Drewiske

Quick
Bernier

Looking at that lineup, I hope to hell Lombardi signs a vet dman as well. I don't want to rely on big and soft Drewiske when someone goes down.

Exactly the line-up I posted Reap. Yeah, what was up with King, dude had some fights in rookie camp and in the AHL, but was completely invisible in that department in his brief stay in LA. His brother is DJ King, come on!

They lost size, but I'd argue they gained toughness. The swap was Gagne for Smyth and Richards for Zues. While we lost 2 taller players, both were somewhat soft...and Simmonds was good in the corners, but was particularly physical (though willing to fight if need be). It will be interesting to see who replaces him and Poni who was one of the more physical forwards for the Kings.

The Kings are pretty high on Kaunisto too. And Andreoff from this years draft will be in the NHL sooner than later. If I could put my money on someone, it'd be Nolan.

Holloway with 4 fights? Could he replace Simmonds? He has a scoring touch.

Remember he was put on the first line with Kopi, not sure that was the impact they were looking for from him.

You got that right!

They don't have to win, but the have to come DAMN close or die trying!

If not, DL needs to lead the mass suicide

Reading that interview, it seems like Gagne is truly excited to be in LA. On top of that, his addition will help Richards get over his depression about being traded.

Now I just want to have myself cryogenically frozen and reawakened in October, Demolition Man style.

id be happy with Westgarth playing every game. We now have 3 very good lines to the point that Westgarth can be there just to play 5 minutes a night. Plus you know, the added awesomeness of sending a line of Clifford-Richards-Westgarth out against the Sedins in the final moments of a game thats already won

Westgarth was beastly in the playoffs last year (as beastly as enforcers get), and since it was his rookie season, im sure he will be a perfect fit as the 4th line enforcer on this team

I know how impatient you are, but this time you are right. The Kings should contend for the next 5-6 years now.

I think AEG has "put up" now. What more can they do this off season that they haven't already done?

Lombardi has acquired the players Terry Murray needs to produce results. It's time for the players to be the most accountable people in this organization and management needs to let them know what is expected in no uncertain terms.

It isn't enough anymore for young defensemen to be learning or act impetuous when they don't get a call (yeah, I'm looking at you Drew). Every player on this team needs to show up to camp prepared and ready to win.

If Lombardi needs to make some additional tweeks to the roster or even the coaching staff he will.

I like how Lombardi did this, decent priced top 6 forwards, and very reasonable bottom 6 (well, except Stoll).

One thing overlooked about the addition of Gagne (maybe I missed it since I didn't dig through all 8 pages) is his defensive game. He is such a dangerous player because of his intelligence on the ice, knows where to be and he is just as dangerous of a penalty killer as Mike Richards.

The Kings have not only potentially added to their offense with the additions of Richards and Gagne, but it is also very likely that we see less time spent inside the Kings' own end. These players know how to move the puck and they sure as hell know how to retrieve it as well, something the team was lacking last season.

You don't think Stoll is a good fit on the bottom six? I think he is more suited for that role and will comfortably replace Handzus in a checking role. He is one of best center icemen on the draw, he is responsible defensively and he's physical as well, third on the team (second among forwards) in hits and third among forwards in blocked shots.

Stoll centering Clifford and either Richardson, Lewis or Parse will make for a physical checking line that is also capable of putting the puck in the net. I think they're going to be faster than the line of Ponikarovsky-Handzus-Simmonds as well.
