When did Wolski have these "flashes"? He scored 6 goals in 37 games, got some assists on the powerplay. Are you guys talking about the shootout? What?

Sergei Kostitsyn if he becomes a UFA is a guy we should be heavily pursuing.

Otherwise:

Boyle-Richards-Gaborik
Dubinsky-Anisimov-Callahan
Fedotenko-Stepan-Zuccarello/Wolski
Avery-Rupp-Prust

I think Boyle could flourish there. He's fast enough to keep up with the two, and has a good shot. We could see him hit David Booth type numbers at a fraction of the cost. Also, Boyle is much cooler than Booth. I mean, he's 6'7, come on guys. CLEARLY he's the better option. His hair is also flowier.

I know some of you might not want to hear it, but I'm kinda hoping Boyle is our 4th line center this year.

I'm sure this is the first time his job has really been threatened in an exit interview.

Plus it's a contract year.

A dream would be Eriksson, we all know that he already have great chemistry with Brad, he can score all kinds of goals and many will he score and he works hard all over the rink.

But he will cost to land.

Just read that Sather said he won't be looking for a top line LW as Torts thinks he has people coming that can fill that role. I assume he means this year by that, so what does that mean? Hagelin slotting into the 3rd line and bumping Dubinsky up or Kreider actually playing, who knows.

i'd like to read that statement, link?

I would think due to the cap and because they have guys like talent they should just run Dubi top line then battle it out between Wolski, Boyle, Avery, Feds , Zuke, Hagelin

"I think that you can always fabricate a lineup," Sather said. "John is pointed in the direction that he thinks we have some people that can play with him. Time will tell us that story. But we're not going to pursue or add another high-priced left winger to go in here. We think that we have some people that are coming that are going to be able to fill that role."

They think they have people coming, which in my eyes means a prospect. Not sure how to take it.

thanks! right from the horses mouth. Although there depth chart is a little out of whack as it does not have Rupp and has Stepan on the wing when we all know EC either hits the bench or gets dumped

Hagelin? lmao.

We have a log jam at forward as it is. Sorry but there's not a single person on our current roster he would replace. And that includes Christensen. Say what you want about EC but he's a decent playmaker and has a very good shot. It's the consistency he struggles with. Not to mention he's good to have around for shootouts.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit to see Christensen - Richards - Gaborik as our top line come October.

Another option I really liked that someone mentioned was Avery. He can play that grinder role. He has the wheels and passing to play with them. Only problem is he kills every rush by going offsides.

Avery - Richards - Gaborik
Dubinsky - Anisimov - Callahan
Christensen - Stepan - Zuccs
Rupp - Boyle - Prust

Edit: Forgot Fedotenko. Ok scratch EC and put Feds on the 3rd line.

I wonder how much it would take to get Rene Bourque out of Calgary. Normally, I'd say too much, but they just traded Regher for Butler + Byron and are pretty poorly managed and kind of... a mess. Phaneuf got traded for relative scraps as well. I could be wrong, thinking we he'd be a reasonable acquisition, but his contract is great (3.3M for the next 5 years) and he would be a perfect LW for the Richards/Gabby line and make our top six much more legit.

It would be too much. Calgary would ask for one of Callahan, Dubinsky or Anisimov IMO.

I wish Ryane Clowe, or in my wet dreams Loui Eriksson.

MDZ + AA/Stepan + 1st definitely gets you Clowe, IMO.

MDZ + Wolski + 1st... not so much, sadly. I mean, it could be *close* but not enough.

They can ask, but all they would hear is Sather cackling on the other line.

Most I'd give up for Bourque is Wolski, Hagelin/Valenteko, and a 2nd. Is it quantity? Hell yes, but Bourque isn't a 1st line winger. I'd rather break the bank and get a legit 30-30 guy.

Rene Bourque is pretty close to being a 30-30 guy and probably would be playing with Richards and Gaborik.

Last year on a terrible Calgary team he scored 27-23 for 50. Last year he scored 27-31 for 58 in 73 games and the year before he scored 21 goals in 58 games.

I mean, no, he's not a proven 30-30 guy, but he fits the mold for that line so well with good size, speed and physicality and he's put up pretty good numbers without a good playmaker. He's the kind of player we could use on that line and could boost his numbers playing with Richards and Gaborik.

Unfortunately for Clowe, I have put it on the trade section, Sharks fans would want Staal. Which I find absolutely ridiculous, but I think Clowe would be THE perfect player on that LW spot.

Problem is, he's had injury issues, and is wildly inconsistent. He'll score 10 goals in 15 games then 1 in 10.

I want a physical monster on that line -- Boyle, Dubinsky from within the organization, a player like Clowe, Neal, or Lucic in terms of trade.

Honestly, just put one of Dubinsky/Boyle there. It adds balance.

What Sharks fans want and what actually happens between GMs are completely unrelated. Fans ALWAYS overvalue their own players. Look at the recent Campbell to Florida rumor thread. Someone suggested it would be Campbell for Olesz straight up and about a dozen Hawks fans laughed in his face and talked about how, even though Campbell has a big contract, he's still way more valuable than an overpaid complete bust like Olesz, especially to a team like Florida that needs to reach the cap floor. Two days later, Campbell was traded straight up for Olesz. I've learned that gauging a players value based on fans of that players team is absolutely USELESS. You're better off looking into the players production, style, intangibles, contract and age yourself and trying to come to a logical conclusion yourself. Fans always over value their own players. Always.
