Honestly Lundy would be my first choice but because we wouldint want to do it to him like Roberto id have say Cally is the most safe Captain.

And the guy that's won a cup, possess's leadership and experience, has skills that can be (and are) called "elite" doesn't deserve an "A"..And by the way, is technically signed up to be a Ranger for the next decade?? Ouch !!! Glad we brought him here to be part of the "team".... Maybe Stepan should get the "A" Cally drops off in Tort's office......Just sayin....

I dont think he should get a letter straight away, also players can be leaders in the dressing and on the ice without a letter on their jersey.

Dont get me wrong if he gets a letter it wont bother me because of the reasons you mention.

This would be perfect imo. Richards will be looked at to be a leader upfront whether he has a letter or not. But if it makes him feel better I wouldn't mind him getting the third A.

Only reason I give the C to Richards is so you don't set Cali and Dubs apart...

Other than that I say triple A (Staal, not Richards, no offense).

I'm against putting one ahead of the other.

Either way, Staal doesn't come off as C material. I could be wrong as I am never in the locker room.

Actually, I love the CAAA idea.

Hell yeah Satrabyk, this really is the King's team at day's end. NFS.

The key point in last season was early on when Dru, Gabby, and Prospal were hurt and the young core took ownership of the team. That was when we developed the hard-working, never-say-die ethic that carried us through the season and made the year so enjoyable.

The heart of that ownership was Dubi and Cally.

Callahan should be the captain. Staal's quiet leadership is perfect for an A. Dubinsky absolutely deserves the other A. It is their team: they set the tone.

As much as I love BR, he was never a captain in the sense that Mess was. Mess was one of the legendary leaders in hockey history; there was no question he would be captain when he came here.

And, as others have said, you don't need a letter to be a leader. That is especially true of an older, veteran player. BR will, hopefully, understand that he is fitting into a special group of young players, many with leadership abilities. BR will lead in his own way.

Callahan for captain
Dubinsky and Staal for alternate captains.

Callahan will be the best Rangers captain since Messier's first time here... and yes that includes Leetch (who, considering he was still in his prime years, had his worst seasons of his career as captain). Callahan was born to be a captain. No way it should go to Richards. That would be an embarrassment

Nice, soccer (futbol) is my second favorite sport behind hockey...EPL/Budesliga/Serie A/La Liga/Spanish Premier League... I'm a Man U fan, but I guess that probably equates to being a Yankee baseball fan in the EPL. Hate Chelsea with a passion....Would be nice to see a Scottish team make a run in the UEFA Cup one day...

richards is going to be here a long time. he may not know what its like to "be a ranger" right now but the guys a proven winner, hes a leader, he will mentor our youth, and he left alot of money on the table, the guy wants to be here. the guy will get an 'A' and its rightfully deserved. tortorella as we know doesnt rush the whole captain issue i wouldnt be surprised if this team goes without a captain, then again i wouldnt be surprised if they name one. i think callahan gets the 'C' and staal getting the other 'A'

The only reason I agreed with Jagr receiving the C is because almost everyone who was a longtime Ranger vanished from the team. We had a bunch of "mercenaries" from other teams. That's how I looked at it.

We don't have that problem anymore. I like Richards playing for the Rangers but no way should he get a letter. Any letter for that matter. His past achievements are just that, past achievements. Let him earn that letter.

Those letters should be reserved for Callahan, Dubinsky, and Staal.

"Callahan is a top-six guy, yet he still plays with so much heart and grit," Chara said. "You don't see many guys that throw their bodies around to block shots like that. He plays the game so hard. You have to respect a guy like that. I just hope that he's OK long term."

C = Cally
A1 = Richards
A2 = Staal
A3 = Stepan or Dubi

Because I think Stepan is a natural leader (although lacking experience), moreso than Dubi actually. But hey - that is just me...

These are grown men playing out their career... if they cannot perform bc their 'captain' is hurt, then they aren't going anywhere anyway..

I'd say Callahan for obvious reasons, but I do expect Richards to get an A as he is expected to play a major mentoring role. Staal will maintain the other A...
